Advantages: Relive the film, great collection of love songs Disadvantages: Too many christmas songs
...all the different kinds of love, from the idealic to the realistic. Compliation albums are always a bit of a strange mix, there is going to be the old and new, good and bad, sometimes vaguely strung together and mismatched. This album is beautifully put together. The only let down to me is the featuring of three Christmas songs; Christmas Is All Around, White Christmas and All I Want For Christmas. I feel, after watching the film, that Christmas ... ...it is that stage of love, almost obsession, when to you, that person becomes the centre of your universe and nothing else around you seems important.
Too Lost In You is a lot more of a soulful, easy listening song then what the Sugababes are renowned for. There is a chanting drum beat to the song that almost gets you into the hypnosis of the love obsession described in the song.
“I can't see anything Cos this love's got me blind. I can't help myself. ...

Advantages: Something for everyone, Sing along, Feel Good Disadvantages: 3 Christmas tracks
This is the sound track from the film Love Actually and in mind is brilliant. I have read some bad reviews on here of the film so even if you hate the film this sound track is bound to appeal with its range of diverse, catchy songs and slow ballads that provoke many a thought (well to me anyway.)
I bought my CD on CD-wow for £8.99 (With free P & P) but this is also available in Tesco, HMV, WHSmiths and all good record shops (as they say on the TV ... ...big red bow so it looks as if it’s a present that has been wrapped and it has photos of the 10 main characters on the front so no sign of any of the album artists on this soundtrack.
The only dislike I have with this album is the couple of Christmas songs it covers but more to that later.
1) Girls Aloud – Jump (For My Love)
My absolute favourite track on the whole album and a great song to open up with. It is catchy, has a great beat, great words ...

...for them. A song about love, and how easy it is to fall in love and get caught up in that, forgetting everything around you. It also portrays how easy it is to get caught up in that special person, ignoring all the important things in your life.
When this was out in the charts, I would definitely reflect on the song, depending on what sort of mood I was in at the time, it could make me cry, or really appreciate my life as it was at the time.

This is a good foot tapping song, one I really find myself getting into every time I listen to it.

I really like this song by the Calling, portraying unconditional love. Basically suggesting that wherever you are I will follow you, whether it’s far away ...

Advantages: Another soundtrack for my collection with some excellent songs Disadvantages: A couple of duff songs
Before I saw ‘Love Actually’, I had already seen a few music videos from various artists which included snippets of the film, so I had a fair idea of the music which would be included on the soundtrack. If I love a film, I tend to love the music from the film too, and the soundtrack becomes an automatic addition to my collection, not always cherished though I might add. I bought my copy from CD-WOW when it was released, and I paid £8.99 at the time.
... ...their commercially successful cover of the Pointer Sister’s hit ‘Jump’. It is not my cup of tea, and although the original song was no work of art, it is a classic in it’s own way, and one of those songs that should never really be covered, especially when you have the nerve to run a dance beat over the top of it! I quite like Girls Aloud at times, but on this track they screech more than they sing, however my 4 year old loves it, so without doubt ...

I recently reviewed the film Love Actually in which I wrote of what a great film, I thought it was, and that it was different in the way that there were so many stories going on all at one, however it did not make it confusing in any way, shape or form.
One of the other reasons, what makes Love Actually a great film is the soundtrack. A film can be great, however without the right songs in the appropriate places, it can actually spoil the film. ... ...within the film, majority of them being very well known, which makes it even better if you know the song, you are more likely to associate yourself with the film more and appreciate it. Although Love Actually has been around for quite a while now, the songs on the soundtrack are very well chosen and make listening to the album easy, because they are a great variety of tracks.

Although it was not the version that ...

Advantages: Good sound track that hits its films target audience. Disadvantages: It's not for guys. Second half of album is poor.
First of all let me quickly explain how a macho male (not really) like myself gets hold of a copy of the Love Actually OST, and claims to hold any kind of credibility. Well I bought it for my girlfriend you see, for her birthday, but she had already been given it by her brother. So I kept hold of it, because I'd lost the receipt. I was desperate to change it, as it couldn't adorn my CD collection, but because nobody wanted to swap, I was forced to ... ...the stack, its cover removed (does anyone still believe me?). The CD however is still in my stereo system... I admit it. I actually quite like this CD. Well, I like half of it. The first half is composed mainly of popular music featured in the film, or relating to the films romantic mood. The second half is a rather eclectic bunch of movie music, old time hits and lesser known hits by bigger stars. But lets take it from the top.... fasten your seatbelt ...

Advantages: Mixture of songs (slow & more upbeat), something to suit every desire! Disadvantages: Not the best for a Valentine's Day alone
...and being so deeply in love, I love this one! (5/5)
Here With Me - This song of Dido's has featured on countless films and TV programmes including Roswell High, it's a true classic! From her older album, No Angel this has a slow, sombre and hollow feeling to it, making you feel almost empty and alone inside, very emotive once again. (4/5)
Christmas Is All Around - Possibly not going to be the most enduring song, as it's not really going to be relevant ... ...summer but a great alternative to the classic "Love is All Around" by Wet Wet Wet, an inspiring and funny film, really gets you in the mood for Christmas though! (4/5)
Turn Me On - Sang by the sultry toned Norah Jones, opens with a grand piano, could be the opening to a movie, very relaxed and laidback with a jazzy blues feel to it, not the most memorable track on the album though. (3/5)
I'll See It Through - A Texas tune, again a sultry and sexy ...

Advantages: A great mix of songs, makes you feel good! Disadvantages: Includes christmas songs!
I am not normally a great fan of soundtracks as usually there are either a lot of songs on them that don't even appear in the film or there is a lot of instumental background music (which I am not a fan of).
However I am pleased to say that the Love Actually soundtrack is a nice surprise. It has a good mix of songs, most of which I can remember from somewhere in the film. My favourite songs on the soundtrack would have to include 'Too Lost In You' by the Sugababes (love that song!) and 'Sweetest Goodbye' by Maroon 5. There are 20 tracks in total (3 of which are instumental) and I have listed these below.
My only other point would be that I wish they'd put the original 'Jump (for my love)' on the album as it appears ...

What a great album! I brought this before I actually saw the film! Any fans of GABRIELLE out there will love this soundtrack as it features her new song " Sometime" which I believe has not yet been realeased but will no doubt be on an up and coming album. Those of you who love your female vocalists will love to hear that ... ...track "The Trouble with love" on it through to the spine tinglein vocals of NORAH JONES singing "Turn me on" and EVA CASSIDYS "Songbird". After seeing the movie i rushed out to get a copy of the Soundtrack - BIG mistake. The only good songs on the album are Kelly Clarkson and Sugababes, apart from them the rest is really really poor, Billy Mack's 'Christmas is all around' makes you loathe the original song 'love is all around'. I personally found this album a total let down, although there are some great artists on it like Eva Cassidy, Gabrielle, Dido, Texas and Norah Jones, for me ...

Advantages: Good mixture of songs Disadvantages: As with many compilation albums, less well known songs are put towards the end of the album implying they are less good than the more well known ones
I went to see this film and loved it. However, i am not a great one for noticing the soundtrack from a film, usually due to being too absorbed in the plot - of course, and especially so, with this film, this time was no different. I already knew and liked some of the songs that were in the film through publicity from the artist, Girls Aloud, Sugababes... but when i was given this album for Christmas and listened to it for the first time, i truly ... ...good choice of songs for the soundtrack now, as when i hear each song it reminds me of different parts in the film that i could really relate to.
Its also a great album as it has both songs you can sing along to (after hearing it a few times you know most of the songs well enough to have a good old kareoke sesh with your hairbrush!) and songs that make you feel that someone else out there DOES understand what you feel!
I really think this soundtrack ...

Advantages: songs on the soundtrack actually appear in film, not just inspired by. Disadvantages: THAT christmas song!
Richard Curtis said "this film is nothing without the music" and he is right, the film is brilliant but would not be nearly as good without the excellent choice of songs put in exactly the right place at exactly the right time. unlike other soundtracks this contains the songs In the film, not those "inspired by" or what the tea boy had in his walkman that day and a fine collection it is too. Some of the songs are instantly memorable and recognisable, ... ...hugh grant dancing.
"here with me" sum up delicious indecision, to admit real feelings and to hell with the consequences or keep quiet and the peace?
The mix of artists is well balanced with well known names such as the sugar babes and the ubiqutous Eva Cassidy, to little known artists such as Lynden David Hall and Maroon 5 both of whom deserve mega mega sucess (and hopefully this album may be the step up they need).
