...the time when this was made back in 1972 very few acts had released a live album so this was a major gamble, so if you think about it for an album that came out about 35 years ago to still be regarded as an all time great should give you some idea as to how good an album this is and always was. This is an album that hits you right from the start and continues to pummel your senses right til the end but with the inclusion of the three original encores ...
...on the original version of made in japan were from this monster of an album which had just been released, but going back to the material on this album itself it consists mostly of what are considered purple classics, the opening number highway star is one of those instantly recognizable driving anthems that features heavily on rock radio stations and rock compilations, the next song child in time is a completely jaw dropping excersise in excess, ...

Deep Purple took Osaka and Tokyo by storm on three nights in August 1972 - and this CD is living proof of the fact. Remastered for CD with three encores, this set really tears out of the speakers. The band pulled out all the stops and cranked it up to ten throughout, notwithstanding a gruelling flight from England the day before, and vocalist Ian Gillan's recent bout of bronchitis. Deep Purple's Made In Japan album is a great document to the power of the band live and at thier peak. Once upon a time this album was considered one of the classic live albums of all time but now due to psychedelic influences at the time of making the album this collection seems somehow dated. The CD, Made In Japan is in my opinion the best CD that Deep Purple have released. The tracks are taken from three concerts in August 1972 which took place in Osaka and Tokyo. The songs on the CD are Highway Star, Child In Time, Smoke On The Water, The Mule, Strange Kind Of Woman, Lazy and Space Truckin'. For me, the songs are better towards the beginning of the CD although you will never get tired of any of them. This is a must buy CD for all ...
