The chorus is a master class in how to combine a snaking super riff with great lyrics "Come crawling faster, obey your master, your life burns faster…" awesome.
At 3 minutes and 34 seconds the pace drops as the word "Master" is repeated in increasingly darker tones. We get a beautiful segment of clean guitars with the beginning of what is about to become one hell of a guitar solo (see the band live and people all around will hum this ...

Advantages: Diverse (for Metallica), all band members at their peak of talent, doesn't sound dated Disadvantages: Won't appeal to everyone; eight tracks may seem too short
...in this song alone.
2. MASTER OF PUPPETS
An epic song at 8:35, this is much more detailed and worth listening to than some of the lenghty tracks on the next album, "...And Justice For All." A main guitar riff that's doubtless familiar to millions of people over the world, the lyrics are also handled greatly and the main "come crawling faster" choruses have great but short guitar sections which bring the song closer to perfection. The middle ...

Advantages: Amazing album, I still listen to it! Disadvantages: None at all
...none came close to Metallica. Master Of Puppets was my favourite album at the time and I still listen to it to this day.
Now, Metallica have been going for several years - 20 to be precise and have released many albums. Master Of Puppets was first released in 1986 after Kill em All and Ride The Lightning. Now there was something in these 2 albums that weren’t quite right, its lacking the power of Master Of Puppets. It seems as though James Hadfield ...

Advantages: Guitars drums bass vocals Metallica and metal at its best Disadvantages: What Metallica are now
Metallica, one of the greatest bands and biggest letdowns. What are they now but another corporate band? This album goes back to a time before that before MTV when Metallica were at their peak and and just released this mind-blowing album that is up there with Iron Maidens Number of the Beast and Paranoid. The guitars are perfect with crunching riffs and there is always a melody. Cliff Burton builds on the musicianship of Ride the Lightning experimenting ...

Advantages: Hard crunching guitars, Burton's power on bass. Disadvantages: Were never as good after this
...to the anthem that is Master of Puppets this is a force to be reckoned with. Burton powers everything home, Hammet curls out demonic riff after riff, Hetfield is , well, a god and Lars drumming holds the hold show together.

Advantages: A fine Metallica Album Disadvantages: None
-=A little about=-
Master of Puppets (1986), a Metallica album, which has produced some of the most powerful Metallica riffs and all with Ex-bass player Cliff Burton. With James Hetfield introducing those fast and powerful riffs and Kirk Hammett on the lead with maybe a little more thought in his solos than Kill `em All the earlier album, this album is a must buy. Hetfields voice is not as harsh as earlier albums either delivering a good vocal ...

Advantages: Brilliant mix of melody and power Disadvantages: Their only great album - it's all down hill from here
I consider this to be the only runaway success of Metallica’s career - this was the pinnacle of their greatness - indeed, their only real moment of true greatness. In the early days the vocals were too horrible to stand - nowadays every element of their music is too horrible to stand. This was the middle ground.
The album opens with a mellow, but slightly sinister acoustic intro, before blasting into the frenetic opening track, Battery. Here ...

Master of Puppets was the first metallica album I ever bought.... the title song of which was the first song by the band I’d ever heard... and as I was walking through my mums local branch of Woolworth’s one day... there it was... caked in dust, seemingly having been there for years amongst the other CD's... waiting to be noticed, bought, taken home, and appreciated, 'Metallica - Master Of Puppets' I didn’t care that the case had ...

...recognizable. Metallica have produced in Master of Puppets and absolute classic of an album, ranking up there with their other greats, 'The black album' instantly springs to mind as a comparison. Metallica have made some excellent musical advances on this album. Not only is it an excellent musical album it is excellently written and the songs contain some subtle and concise social commentary, e.g. 'Disposable heroes'.

Advantages: see review Disadvantages: see review
This album is THE classic metal album from the 80s. At a time when bands such as Kiss, Poison, Van Halen and other limp wristed rockers were dominating the metal charts, along came Metallica with this, their third album...and blasted the competition away with a display of such strength and power that the world of heavy metal would never be the same again. Many have tried to immitate, but none have found the sheer class which is Metallica and none ...

Classic Thrash Review ofMaster Of Puppets - Metallicaby

Advantages: Great songs Disadvantages: None
Master Of Puppets was the first classic album that Metallica produced and unfortunately the last with the late Cliff Burton. It opens with a deceptive gentle acoustic intro to the stomping track, Battery. Touches like that throughout the album show that even at this stage Metallica was more than just a thrash band (A tag that upset drummer Lars Ulrich at the time). The skill that went into the arrangement on the title track is breathtaking while the ...

...track (and the title track) master of puppets is one of the most famous metallica songs ever, the opening duh.....duh duh duh" is probably one of the most recognised riffs today and this song has been played live nearly every night since. The song can be read on 2 levels, either from a drug addicts point of view and how the drug has become its "master" or as an anti-war song about how governments are leading soldiers to their deaths (hence the cover ...

Master of Puppets, what can I say! This c.d is my favourite album of all time. As soon as you put it into your stereo it lulls you into a false sense of security and then suddenly with the main riff of battery it hits you like a punch in the face!
The opening track 'Battery' has one of the most killer metal riffs of all time! the acoustic guitar in the intro couldn't be more relaxing, until Lars Ulrich's punding floor toms send you careering across ...
