Well, yes. Usually I'd wear a mask of cynicism and merely say Marilyn Manson (the man and the band) aren't too worth of praise. But the first time I heard 'Mechanical Animals' I arrived at a surprising turning point. I began to realise that away from the mass market shock image that the kiddies love so well, well, somewhere in there was both groovy music sharing a depth with The Beatles (ie "catchy" "disposable") and above that pretty fine lyrics. ... I bought this album after only having heard two tracks ; Rock Is Dead and The Dope Show, and I have to say I was and still am very impressed with the album as a whole. It contains a number of excellent tracks (including the two singles). The album features well written lyrics and a wide range of musical styles, from hard and heavy rock to a gentle, more melodic style. as the second part of manson's original trilogy concept, this album is yet again sound. it is musically entertaining, thought provoking and fun yet also dark and disturbing. from the opening track 'great big white world' through 'rock is dead' and 'dope show' to 'i don't like the drugs' and 'posthuman' to the last track 'coma white', each track is unique. again, sociologically speaking, this album covers many themes and issues and should be heard ... He's gone out of anger, gone out of wild, and there's nothing left, just empty. This contains the best line of all time... 'Hope...at least that we die...holding hands. For always.' (Speed of pain) and there are so many bits that just make it hurt inside its so good. I also believe that this one of Mazza's better albums. He did say that this album was created to show that the band could actually write and play good music and I think this has been accomplished. There are a wide variety of songs on the album, starting off with the immediate naive song og "Great Big White World" and then thrusting itself into the riffs of "The Dope Show". In space the stars all the colors. What an album, amazing, great, brilliant. There isn't anything bad about this album. Just a few irritating songs like "Fundamentally Loathsome". However the solo at the end is pretty good. Sound - A good variation in here actually. Depressing songs include Coma White, The Great Big White World, Speed Of Pain (with acoustic guitar I think). this is the first album i ever heard by mazza about three years ago and instantly i was hooked. the songs are very infectious and flow from one to another so well. the album starts off with great big white world, a track that makes you want to listen to the rest of the album. it has the electrical yet beautiful feel to it and mr mansons vocals are superb. it then lead on to go through songs such as rock is dead, a song made famous by the film the ... I think this is Manson's best album. If you asked me to name a track on this album I did not like even slightly, I couldn't tell you. Every single track on this album is amazing in it's own way. The lyrics are brilliant. My favourite tracks would have to be, Rock is Dead, which is featured on 'The Matrix' soundtrack, I want to Dissapear, I Don't Like The Drugs and New Model No.15.
