Advantages: beautiful voice, some great songs, different to other young artists around. Disadvantages: those who don't like her voice may get bored
“For me, personally, Mind, Body and Soul is my real debut." –Joss Stone
Perhaps you might not recognise the name, Joss Stone. You might not recognise her in the street either. But the chances are you’ll recognise this girl’s voice. There are few people in this world blessed with a truly unique voice: Steven Tyler is one of them, Heather Small is (unfortunately) another, and Joss Stone must surely be added to this category. Her first album, The Soul ... ...10 in 13 countries, despite being originally planned as an informal release to generate publicity for this, her second offering. The Soul Sessions was really just an album of covers, put together fairly quickly with the sole purpose of showcasing Joss’s vocal talents. Here, predictably, Ms Stone tries her hand at co-writing a few songs. – 11 out of the 14 on the album, to be precise. It is a pretty good effort, particularly for a seventeen-year-old ...

Advantages: some great songs if you appreciate good music, joss's voice is amazing Disadvantages: can take a while to get into and unless you love her voice it can feel a bit repetative.
...however ill probably change my mind when i hear the song again!!! This song i really a must hear, worth buying the album for definatly!!
Ok so, young at heart, nice background music, and as always some good vocals, another song I really like! The songs about how not matter how much you love your patner then people will still try and split you up if they dont approve, this is one of my favorite tracks.
Im probably gonna sound really repetative, ... ...a relationship comitment is important to her and that shes fed up of not knowing whats going on, and theyre always up and down (like snakes and ladders which is the title of the song). Understand is about, trust in a relationship and basically if you ring and the phone doesnt get picked up it doesnt mean you have to worry, because theyre the one you love. Some great lyrics here worth listening to i couldnt pick out my favorite lone in this song becasue ...

Advantages: Stone has a great voice Disadvantages: But it's a predictable pop-r 'n' b sound
Although I quite enjoyed Joss Stone's debut album "The Soul Sessions", it didn't really live up to the hype. It proved that Stone can sing, but so what? Lots of people can sing. Hear'Say could sing, but that didn't really help them much in the long run, as you need to be able to back up a decent singing performance with a decent song.
Stone managed that part of things admirably, at least, by putting out an album of mostly soul covers, albeit soul ... ...a nice change from the standard bubblegum pop sound around at the moment, it caused a number of people to put her on a pedestal, comparing her to the likes of Aretha Franklin. This seemed to me to be a bit of an over-reaction, as Stone's got a good voice, without a doubt, but not that good.
The one down side to her "The Soul Sessions" album was that it felt in parts as if Stone was just singing the songs she had been told to, not the songs she wanted ...

Advantages: Five good tracks. Disadvantages: Ten mediocre or weak tracks.
Mind, Body & Soul is Joss Stone's 2nd album. From reading a little about this album she apparently saw it more as 'hers' than the first album 'Soul sessions'. This is evident in the lyrics of the first song 'Right to be wrong' where she sings "I've got a right to be wrong, my mistakes will make me strong", and goes on to change that second line in one verse with "Gotta sing my own song".
This is altogether a rather more mature offering than her ... ...certainly loved the use of vocals on the first album and the retro soul style. Anyway the notoriously difficult second album, does she cut it?
Track 1. Right to be wrong.
Lyrically great if you are 30 and been beholden to a record company for years, or a partner, but c'mon, she was one year on from a platinum selling CD, and moaning about stuff. I feel this is a self indulgent song with double meanings throughout. That being said, musically and ...

Advantages: Fantastic lyrically and musically Disadvantages: May seem abit sameish to some
''Mind, Body & Soul'' is the second album for the sixteen year old, accomplaished soul singer, Joss Stone. Her first album ''The Soul Sessions'' become a best seller without much promotion. ''The Soul Sessions'' ironically was orignally intended to be a promotional recording which would be used to promote a second and more original album ''Mind, Body & Soul''. But somehow after word spread over the talent and complexity and the fulfillment of soul ... ...as an album worldwide.
''Right To Be Wrong'' is a nice soul ballad, with a poppy chorus. This is a wonderful song, wonderfullally sang. Joss Stone's voice really shows on this song.
''Jet Lag'' is an amazing track - it is very soulful and jazzy. The chrous is amazing. The backing drums fit perfectly with Joss's voice. ''You Had Me'' is a wonderful, pop track. This is the first single to be released at the back of this album. The track is extremely ...

...factor or longevity in the mind as the rest of the album. But hopefully like 'Sleep Like A Child' they will grow on me and in time i'll be humming away.
Theres only one song I truely dislike and thats 'Jet Lag' it makes me feel like I have it! Its quite dull and doesnt go anywhere and would have been unnoticed if never put on the album but there are some gems on here. For more info read on...
Right To Be Wrong - I love this and as an opener its ... ...before her vocals kick off. Its very chilled but not boring as theres a real mix of instruments in the back ground! The chorus is really sing a long and its quite anthemic in its own way.
You Had Me - Possibly her most upbeat and modern verging on R&B song to date. This was a brilliant showcase for her second album. Its instantly catchy and really shows maturity in voice and style merging R&B with Soul/Jazz effortlessly.
Spoiled - This wasnt instant ...

...decided to buy her album, mind body and soul. It has been one of the best albums i have spent my money on. I really feel I can relate to the lyrics, you can feel the passion in her voice. This album has a feel good, strong attitude to it, a real treat to listen to.
The backing music is top class, Joss's voice and the instrumentals really compliment each other, they harmonise extremly well.

Advantages: Incredible voice and nice variations on music Disadvantages: Voice (some people don't like it)
The first single released off this second album is not a true reflection of the type of sound the album is. 'You had me' has a very hard hitting and dance feel to it. I believe that there are three elements to this album and the first is her voice. I think that her voice has maintained that same soulful style from her first album. The next element is the lyrics and the point about this is that the lyrics seem to be more expressive as in that they ... ...music that has been used is much more daring and the album seems to have experimented with different sorts of sound. In my opinion the music on the album has a good variation of slow, up beat and ballad music. I found that liked all the music on the album and didn't have a problem with any of the tracks. However some of the tracks are suited for particular moods such as easy listening and calm i would recommend the last track 'sleep like a child'. ...

Quick review of Mind Body And Soul - Joss Stone
This album shows that the artist has true talent. It's a very easy listening and chilled out cd, nice to relax to with a glass of wine, when you have had a stressful day at work. This is definetly a womens cd. It shows the talent that the younger generation has with her being at such a young age when she created this album. Overall i would class this one of the best cd's that i own. One of my favourite tracks is number 3 called "you had me" its shows a strong women and i think you would agree that most women would be able to relate to it. Mind, body and soul is what this album definetly takes over when you listen to it. That is why i think that this album deserves a 5 star rating. I can confidently say that this album doesn't contain any disadvantages! ...

Advantages: She's achieved a lot given her age. Disadvantages: Oh, just read the review.
Joss Stone. Here we receive yet another lady with yet another 'fresh' sound. I'm sorry but sceptical as this sounds, I fail to see how anyone could call her irritating voice that can only be described in that manner as 'fresh'! I'll admit, it's been a while since we have had a bit of soul on the scene but did Alicia Keyes not bring something new and truly soulful to the game?
I will deny no-one talent and here is a girl who oozes somg-writing talent ... ...unfortunate to find in "Understand" and of course her attempt at an upbeat song known as "You Had Me", I'm afraid a talent is wasted. Her voice itself is original and indeed her scruffiness in it's own right which hides any sort of prettiness the girl possesses is also highly original but for some reason, I believe while the formula may work for a certain amount of time, I still feel that perhaps it may be time to go back to the drawing board for ...

Joss stone now 17, started out in music industry at 16, went from her native Devon to the states and was signed straight away. This is her second album and unlike the first almost all of the tracks are co -written by joss herself. I actually wasnt a fan of the first album The soul Sessions but i recognised she had an amazing, unique voice and at such a young age.
