Advantages: It's Linkin Park, the general quality is good, some excellent songs Disadvantages: Potentially a bit of a let down, some almost pointless songs.
...I was at the Minutes to Midnight tour at the O2 Arena on the second night. It was an unforgettable night.

Stylus onto record sound effect, and a slow gradual built up of sound on a keyboard. The sound levels increase until the drums come in followed shortly by a powerful guitar riff. This is just to get your blood pumping, as nothing else happens, and it then fades away to nothing. Not a song I listen to as a song, but ... ...all the way through.
===Given Up===
_I've given up, I'm sick of feeling. Is there nothing you can say? Take this all away, I'm suffocating! Tell me what the **** is wrong with me!_
This is not one of my particular favourites. There's too much screaming (I don't like music that involves screaming), but the tune is compelling. I'm actually going to mention another reviewer here, and agree that the swear words in this are gratuitous, and don't really ...

Advantages: Deep, meaningful content and an enjoyable, distinctive sound in some tracks... Disadvantages: ...some of the changes are quite drastic and there's a tendency towards soppy behaviour.
Minutes to Midnight is a step away from traditional nu-metal beginnings for Linkin Park, signifying a change in direction and a shift in position, allowing for a political voice to assist them with their move to the next level in tangibility. But are they crawling towards acceptance on their knees, or one step closer to the world realising them for the talent that they are?
Linkin Park are an American band, mainly catagorised as "nu-metal", who ... ...Shinoda made this statement when Minutes to Midnight was leaked onto the internet, saying that the track order was really important and that if people have downloaded their music, the least they could do is play it in order. Thing is, the album order is well out. Leave Out All The Rest shouldn't be here, it should be the second to last song on the album (I'd actually consider last, were it not for the fact that the last track does, in fact, work.). ...

Advantages: Great CD, lots of great songs on it Disadvantages: not exactly what linkin park fans are used to
Minutes 2 Midnight was released on the 14th May 2007. Minutes to Midnight is named after the doomsday clock that measures how close society is to wiping itself out through war and other selfish acts. This album was different than the others because the music became more mellowed out, still alternative rock but just in a different way. Hybrid Theory and Meteora the two most popular previous albums were full of screaming lyrics and rapping however ... ...and there is slower music in most of the album. So heres the song list: 1. Wake This is just a short instrumental at the start of the album as kind of an introduction to the CD. It is slow paced and nice to listen to. It sounds like at the start a needle being put onto a record track and then there is piano playing slowing, getting faster and more intense with also then towards the end drums and guitar playing as well. 2. Given Up This song is very ...

...At something like 6 minutes it does drag on a bit but it's not too bad. It's a very easy listening song and has something for everyone. A great way to end the album! Verdict : 7/10 '''Final thoughts:''' Overall, I must say I was slightly dissapointed, I've been a huge fan of LP for pretty much all my life and I expected more than this, possibly because we've had to wait for so long. The album has so many different genre's its amazing. It mixes pop, ... ...really want all of them? Probably not, I want the old Linkin Park tunes, I understand artists have to change with the times to prevent becoming repetitive but I really don't know what to say. I felt they were trying to reach out to a new broader audience, forgetting fans of their previous style. The album is certainly a grower, you'll have to loop it a fair few times to really appreciate the music. This is also their longest album and the first to ...

...AVOID
At 43 minutes this is one of the longer Linkin Park albums. A band notorious for poor value for money in terms of album length succeed in making a longer album but failed in offering VALUE for money.
Seriously avoid this album at all costs! I feel angry and disgusted that I paid out for this CD. I'm seriously considering sending this garbage to the Linkin Park fanmail address with the words utter shambollicks written on the front. Linkin ...

Linkin Park:Mminutes To Midnight:
Shindoa and Bennington have done it again! this album is a masterpeice. sure the songs arent what they used to be now they mainley sing about politics the three best songs on this album have got to be 'Bleed It Out' 'Leave out all the rest'and 'Shadow of the day' by far. 1.)Wake: is a short instrumental like an introduction to this album.1:40
2.)Given up:the start is perfect really nice but then chester screams ... ...out all the rest: i love this song i think its got perfect lyrics you cant go wrong with this song.3:29
4.)Bleed it out:Another song that i like this is more of shinodas song as he does the verses and bennington only does the chorus.2:44
5.)Shadow of the day:This is amazing this song is if you havnt heard it you have to hear it, its on youtube just type in shadow of the day. the video is great its all about the place bennington in at war you see ...

...won't waste your time as Minutes to Midnight did mine. I hope this opening paragraph sums up my thoughts nicely - Half way through, I stood up from the poker table and yanked the disc out of the player before sitting back down listening to a free Sunday Mirror CD. It was the first thing I could get my hands to, The Very Best Christmas Hits. I assume you realise it was 27 May.
Let me make this clear, I don't like bands who drift between genres. It ... ...simply isn't the case on Minutes to Midnight. On one of the first tracks, Given Up, we hear the chorus "tell me what the fuck is wrong with me". Linkin Park have never used vulgarity in their past releases bar a collaboration with Jay-Z on Collision Course. Coming to the realisation that they've ruined a brilliant modern metal achievement for the sake of shock tactics is just cringe worthy.
As you plod your way through the tracks you realise there's ...

Advantages: Will not disappoint Linkin Park fans Disadvantages: A few too many ballads, with the last 4 songs on the album being a bit disappointing.
The album that every Linkin Park fan has been waiting for has finally arrived. And you won't be disappointed! The album from start to finish is simply amazing. The sound is fresh, polished and will satisfy every Linkin Park out there.
Even thought the Nu-Metal sound that the fans are used to is gone, there are still some songs which will make you feel at home.
The first song Wake is a gentle introduction to the album, blending slow drums and mixing. ... ...feel. Although it may take a while to kick in, the transition from Chester singing the verse to screaming the chorus is almost instant, which is the attraction point for this song. A good song and I believe should be their next single. 7/10
Third song Leave Out All The Rest is a slow, haunting ballad which takes some time to kick in, but catches you at the chorus. Very catchy and will have your foot tapping to the beat and Chester’s gentle tone ...

Advantages: Not as bad as My Chemical Romance Disadvantages: But not much better either.
I could go and write a totally in depth review on Linkin Park's latest effort, but I'm going to give it to you straight. I'm dissapointed. How many years, 3 or 4?? since they released Meteora, which I enjoyed, yes, it was total nu metal pop, and it didn't do anything different than Hybrid Theory, but it was catchy, and the songs were just plain good. Yeah, all kinda wore off quickly, but that's pop music isn't it?
Anyway, LP have kinda abandoned ... ...made some kind of watered down angry kid music, somewhere between pop punk, stadium rock and... I don't know! It doesn't really feel like this album had any direction, just a mish-mash of random songs that sound half finished. A number of the songs stop really suddenly as well, a touch I don't think is a good one. The rather enjoyable rapping of the earlier releases has largly been taken away which is kinda stupid, and has been replaced with more ...

Well what can I say I absolutely love this Cd from the very first day I got it. Through the songs and lyrics used by Linkin Park we can see that they have changed from what they used to be. They are not as full on metal any more they just touch it slighty. I was so happy when they came back because I think they are better than before. I am able to understand their songs better now. I think the best song would be "What ive done" They explain how they ... ...and advise you go and buy this for a gift for someones christmas because I am sure they would be happy with it. They are so much better than anybody else and they deserve it. ...

Advantages: New style for Linkin Park Disadvantages: None
As a mega Linkin Park fan I couldn't wait for the release of this long awaited album.
I've owned a copy now for a couple of months, and after a confused first impression (couldn't work out if I liked it or not), and having listened to it 100's of times now... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT TO BITS!!!!!!!!
It's a new direction for the guys, with softer tracks included, and a new style of harder stuff, mainly due to influence of producer Rick Rubin who worked ... ...in the track SHADOW OF THE DAY.
I know you'll read other reviews which say it is weaker than past albums, well to defend it, I say to make your own minds up like I did by listening to it a few times. I'm sure like me you'll find it an inspirational album to say the least! ...

Advantages: Nice ballad-like songs with lots of emotion and well written raps Disadvantages: Could have benefitted from a couple more louder tracks
After listening to this the first time through iwas struck by how different it is to their previous albums. I have often found that you can listen to metorea and hybrid theory together and find that they link very well. Here, however, the songs take on a more ballad-like tone. There seems to be more emphasis on the words and lyrics, then the songs being loud. That's not to say it's a bad thing though, as they are very well written with alot of emotion, ... ...there too (what i've done and bleed it out for example). I would say that to enjoy this album more you have to listen to it a few times, as it's a grower, and to give it a chance. Even though the last few tracks can seem to go on a little too long, it is still a very good album. A must for fans! ...
