Advantages: second generation prog rock at its best Disadvantages: concept albums are not to all tastes
Many people know of Marillions work, especially their early work by the singles Kayleigh and Lavander, and although they are both contained on this album, are not totally representative of this album, or the bands work in general. Advantages: Too numerous to mention Disadvantages: You can't just play one track, when you start you have to finish
...the angst ridden concept album, Misplaced Childhood, Kayleigh and Lavender were very much business as usual.
From the haunting synth intro to Pseudo Silk Kimono, to the hate filled vocals of White Feather, Misplaced Childhood represents arguably the finest Fish era release. Advantages: Great music Disadvantages: More commercial than the first 2 albums
This album contains the one song that everyone knows of Marillions - the famous Kayleigh.

Advantages: A combination of chart topping (almost) songs and the lyrical and musical depth which only great artists can provide Disadvantages: This goes for both this and clutching at straws, do not listen if you are on the virge of suicide cos it might just push you over
This was the first album where Marillion gained recognition in the charts, I disagree slightly with the other comment/ review that said the album was buisness as uaual, well to say disagree is probably a bit to strong a word, I agree and disagree. Kayleigh was a very well crafted pop song whilst not disturbing the fabric of the rest of the album, Lavender too whilst not being as sucessful was of a similar vein, these two tracks served a very important ...
