The band are signed to multiple record labels and have currently got five studio albums and a collection of awards to be proud of, including Best British Group, Best International Group, Band of the Year (2005), Record of the Year (2004), Best International Rock Artist and lots more! Advantages Advantages Well balanced tracks, catchy rhythm and oozing vocals

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Major Minus

The other day while driving to work I heard an interview with a band on my favourite radio. I didn’t know who they are as I haven’t heard them from the very beginning but they were very cool guys. As the interview went on, it became obvious… You got it, they were the Coldplay. The band Coldplay is a British alternative rock band. Although the lead guitarist and vocalist have started a band earlier, the current formation of Coldplay dates back to 1998. So the members are: Chris Martin – lead vocalist Jonny Buckland – lead guitarist Guy Berryman – bassist Will Champion – drummer, backing ... more

Advantages Advantages A decent concept album with some excellent tracks

Disadvantages Disadvantages The track order felt a little off and Martin's vocals were too stretched at times

Ever since their debut album back in 2000, Coldplay have gone from strength to strength increasing their profile all the time. Once dubbed the new Radiohead they have really developed their own musical style and sound. They are now one of the biggest bands in the Country and 2011 saw the release of their 5th studio album. With each album the band have developed and adapted their sound to try new things and so far this has been an approach that has really worked for them. In the beginning it took me a while to get into Coldplay but now I actually really like them and so was quite keen to get my ... more

Advantages Advantages Different side to Coldplay, nice concept, great vocals and atmospheric tracks.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only a few 'great' songs, a bit to much of the electronics and slightly boring.

*** Mylo Xyloto *** This is the 5th Studio Album from Coldplay and just like the rest it went straight to number 1 in the album charts. (Only the 3rd ever group to do this after The Beatles and Oasis.) Coldplay went down a slightly different route with the album and created an entire concept that the album is based on, rather than each song being a story in its own right. The whole concept of this album is about a love story with a happy ending. The two main characters in this ‘story’ are Mylo and Xyloto. (Hence the name of the album.) They live in an oppressed urban society. Surrounded by ... more

Advantages Advantages new interesting sound on a few tracks

Disadvantages Disadvantages might disappoint some fans used to the previous work

This is definitely an album not like the rest. If you're already a Coldplay fan then you might appreciate the fact that they are trying to mix up their genre a bit, i know i do! Mylo Xyloto has it's fair share of haters but you need to look beyond to admire the work. Needless to say, i am a huge fan and got this album as soon as it was out. At first i did not know how to react. this is not your usual Coldplay album but in a way they set us up for it. You can clearly see the changes over the years and this one is, if there is one way of putting it, experimental. Here is my track list review ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Coldplay have been around for sometime now so they have built a vast amount of fans. This means even if I reviewed this album was poorly, most hardcore fans would still go out and buy it. Anyway, I'll tell you what I think... SUPERB The Title 'Mylo Xyloto' (pronounced "my-low-zy-ly-o-tow") is as peculiar as the band's other 4 album titles but the contents is as strong as them too. There are 14 tracks in total including the singles 'Every Tear Drop Is A Waterfall' and 'Paradise'. Prior to this album, my personal favourite was X&Y as this was the first album I actually bought of theirs before ... more

It was released in the United Kingdom in October 2011 and so is very recent. The album is currently selling from Amazon for a price of £8.00 which I think is good value for money. ~ * Track listing * ~ 1) Mylo Xyloto 2) Hurts Like Heaven 3) Paradise 4) Charlie Brown 5) Us Against The World 6) M.M.I.X 7) Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall 8) Major Minus 9) U.F.O 10) Princess of China (featuring Rihanna) 11) Up In Flames ... more

Advantages Advantages More uptempo than before, added element of a concept and a great driving album!

Disadvantages Disadvantages A couple of forgettable tracks, different from the past, which may not be to old fans tastes.

In recent years I have often expressed a strong dislike for Coldplay. I found their music too depressing, or too slow, or too dull - is what I would have said. Then 'Viva la Vida' came out, and somewhere in my mind I started to enjoy their music, but I ignored any notion that told me I was starting to like them. Then the oncoming storm of 'Mylo Xyloto' began, and I found I had 'Paradise' stuck in my head for weeks, constantly on repeat on the mp3. When the album got released, I decided to give it a chance and found myself somewhat delighted by what I hear. Chris Martin himself has described it ... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic singles - Paradise and Every tear drop is a water fall.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Following the same Coldplay recipe, nothing new or original

Mylo Xyloto; an album with a build up which challenged the best albums around. The obvious album fillers which make Coldplay one of the best bands around. The repetitive 'Paradise' and floor filler 'Every Tear Drop Is A Waterfall' have kept this album afloat. The album has followed on from their other albums, but branching off into a more electric genre. However Mylo Xyloto is seen as being 'same old, same old' with the same big choruses, following the same recipe for the rest of their albums. The album contains tracks such as Mylo Xyloto which is an instrumental to follow onto Hurts Like ... more
