...Then I started to see Nevermind mentioned in Album polls, it got pretty high up on the list, Top 5 all the time. I knew abit about Nirvana before I brought this album but I seriously thought Kurt Cobain and Nirvana were very very overrated...then I brought the album and believe me, it has changed my life and it does live up to every bit of hype it has received over the 10 years of it's release. SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT
This song in particuly has ... ...from all over the world. Again, like the album, this song is full of hype, which again I was sceptical off, I mean a song can't be THAT good can it? Well Kurt Donald Cobain proved me wrong again. You can't fail not to instantly drop everything when you hear the first guitar chord in this song. The riff is one of the most recognisable and likeable you will ever hear in your life. This is what rock music is supposed to be about. You've got in here ...

...described as genre defining but Nevermind clearly set out the blueprint for grunge. Containing the epic 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' it capitulated lead singer Kurt Cobain into the spotlight and cast him as the quasi spokesman for Generation X. Cobain who suffered from excruciating stomach pains was a tortured soul unprepared for the baggage of success that Nevermind (and sociopath girlfriend/wife Courtney Love) achieved. In a live setting Nirvana created ... ...not so perfect hairstyles and Nevermind itself had a cover design that intelligently punched capitalist America in the ribs. Butch Vig (who went on to form Garbage) produced Nevermind on the David Geffen Record Label. Prior to Nevermind, Nirvana had had some success with the album 'Bleach' on Sub Pop Records but it was the follow up that moulded their legend. It's hard to believe that Nevermind is 11 years old now but it still stands on its own two ...

This is not your normal album review........do you really need telling what songs are on here and how they sound? Never heard of Nirvana? No? OK come out of the fallout shelter now, the cold war's over, America won (sort of).
After 15 years is it time for a rethink? This record appears to be more influential for what it actually represented more than what songs are on it. Introducing the world to the strange new sounds of grunge, changing music ... ...earlier had got a head start in the genre, but well. With no internet, few mobiles and no wall-to-wall cable coverage at the time, unlike today when a new band can be on every media with their first single even, we relied on music mags and the radio to keep us informed on the new sounds. I can remember reading one where this album's review was tucked away at the bottom of a page and given no more than three paragraphs. Half of the problem with this ...

...rock pundit or rock fan, Nevermind was and still is seen as a benchmark by which new bands and albums are compared to. This album defined rock music in the 90’s, and being mentioned alongside such greats as The Beatles just shows how truly outstanding Nirvana were even in their barely 3 years in the spotlight. This album is a classic – if it isn’t in you collection, get it in there now! ...

Advantages: Full of Superb Songs Disadvantages: None!
Nevermind was released in 1991. And since then it has became the most famous of Nirvana's Albums.
The easily recognisable frount cover draws instant attention, the naked baby swimming after the dollar bill!
When you put it into your CD player or Computer whatever, you realize why it is so famous.
Opening with their signature song Smells Like Teen Spirit. This song is probably noticed as the best Nirvana piece. The chords from Cobain's gutair start ... ...chorus I dunno!
Finall Nevermind seems to finish with Something In The Way, another accoustic, on this song Kurt sings very softly, this track seems to me to be probably one of the darkest on the album. When the chorus rolls around there is slow drums which don't over come the singing. This song is not one you would head-bang dance to, but more of something you might slowly cuddle your partner and move to.
Something In The Way is my favorite song ...

...the original advertising budget for Nevermind was virtually non-existant and it became successful through word of mouth goes some way to prove this.
Kurt Cobain was never one of the best guitarists you will hear but he was an expert at holding back from playing too much and keeping it simple. Most of the tracks on Nevermind have very simple but very effective chord changes. When you do get a guitar solo it is in the 'thrash at it and hope for the ... ...in memory for the massive kick to the head that was Nevermind instead of anything dodgy they might have produced.

...know that by the time Nevermind was released and launched them to worldwide fame, they had been touring for years and had built up a fantastic reputation on the Seattle scene as the kings of grunge music. Nevermind is Nirvana's second album and it was really kicked off by the success of the single 'Smells like Teen Spirit', this song caught the attention of a generation with the high school video where the punks invade and it ends in a warped mess ... ...for American music and really gave soft rock a bit of a kicking. Made up of lead singer Kurt Cobain, bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave Grohl, this album was the culmination of years of soul searching for the pizies loving Cobain. Produced by Butch Vig subsequently of Garbage fame, the album worked partly because of the exceptional music and words, but also because Cobain's style of quiet reflection followed by hellish rock brought a real contrast ...

The Grunge movement was well and truly kicked off by Nirvana when they released this awesome album, ten years ago now!
It took me a while to get into this 'new' sound, but it was worth it as I would consider this the best album from the 1990's. Every track is a breath of fresh air, something new to be listened to with an amazing amount of raw emotion conveyed through the style.
The variety of style between the different songs is surprising from ... ...almost thrashy 'Lithium'.
It is very difficult to decipher all the lyrics, which is a shame especially as they aren't written down anywhere at least not on my version. I'm sure there must be a Nirvana website somewhere which has them though!
Overall if you like music with attitude, then this is a must have album, rated up there with the very best. ...

If you’re not a Nirvana fan and just like good music then you have to have this excellent album. It was their follow up to their 1989 debut ‘Bleach’ and this is just an excellent album full of great songs. Tracks like "Smells Like Teen Spirit", which I am sure you’ve all heard of opens up the album.
I really like this song, the lyrics are sublime and if you’ve seen it on video it’s even better. Nothing like having ... ...parents wouldn’t agree. The tracks on the song don’t disappoint, ‘Setting Sons’ and lyrics to ‘In Bloom’ are excellent. If you listen to the lyrics they are in a way poetic the lines ‘He’s the one who writes our pretty songs and he likes to sing along, And he likes to shoot his gun…..’ really do stick in you head. Songs like ‘Come as You are’ is another catchy song, excellent ...

I bought the album and clocked in many hours of air guitar playing before I snapped and begged my parents to buy me a guitar. “Nevermind” – THE seminal album of 1991 and the onset of the so-called “grunge” music era – a hyrbrid of punk and raw metal with tunes.

Nevermind is by far Nirvanas best album it includes classics like Smells like teen spirit, Polly, Something in the way and Come as you are. Nirvana totally changed the history of rock music, not only did they breed a new type of music they all so made the world of rock freeze when Kurt Donald Cobain commited suicide.

...of Dave Grohl's drumming on nevermind is here. The drums simply drive the whole song in the right direction. Originally called Pay to play, it looses some of its power knowing that.
11.On A Plain - This is possibly the peak of thee happiness on this album. Suitably placed just behind something in the way, it is the last surge of an upbeat "just get on with it" attitude. You can picture Cobain smiling away to this one.
12. Something in the way - ... ...bridge. It's falsely reported that he lived there, when infact he had merely stayed there overnight once. Thissong to me is Kurt closing the book on the grunge scene, and prepearing himself physically and mentally for the future.
