Nevermind is undoubtedly the jewel in Nirvana's crown. The energy you feel from listening to this album is amazing, it fills you with a inexplicable euphoria. From the first unmistakeable chords of Smells Like Teen Spirit to the last hmmings of Something in the Way there's an unparalleled rawness and emotion in the music and the lyrics. ...opening chords of "Teen Spirit", Nevermind has many highs, and the lows you can barely count on one finger, let alone one hand. The obvious starting point is "Smells Like Teen Spirit." The song that defined grunge and generation X is still blazingly overexposed and overplayed even today, simply because, like the Beatles and Hendrix before them, Nirvana have created music that is simply impossible to grow out of. ......and Grunge was born. Smells Like Teen Spirit catapults this album into classic status. But it doesn't stop there, every song is a hit, if some a little weird, but my favourites are Lithium and Polly. King Kurt will be missed by all Grunge bands, and he was at his screwed up best in writing this album. Quote of the album - "I'd rather be dead than cool"....sums up Kurt...sums up Nirvana....own it!
