Review of Night At The Opera, A (Limited Edition Replica Vinyl) [Remastered] - Queen by
JOHNV
Advantages: The group's best
Disadvantages: None
...tastes in popular music, ‘A Night At The Opera’ was clearly one of the defining albums of the 70s. From that striking sleeve design, the group’s logo on a white background (which sadly has far less impact on the CD than it did in the days of vinyl) and the invitation-style script, to the music inside, it was a record you couldn’t ignore at the time, whether you loved or hated it.
Not the least remarkable thing about it was that it was Queen’s ...

POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE
Review of Night At The Opera, A (Limited Edition Replica Vinyl) [Remastered] - Queen by
Pumpkin
Advantages: A classic album with several outstanding tracks
Disadvantages: A few quirky experimental tracks
Queen’s fourth studio album, “A Night at the Opera”, released in 1975, was the first of two Queen albums to be named after Marx Brothers’ films. (The second being 1976’s “A Day at the Races”). It is regarded by many as their best album, not least because it contains their ‘magnum opus’ “Bohemian Rhapsody”. It is also the first album to really make full use of the intricate multi-layer ...

Queen - A Night At The Opera
Released 21st Nov 1975
In the Winter of 1975 Queen released their fourth album, A Night At The Opera, which propelled them into superstar status in the eyes of those who hadn’t held them in such high regard previously.
At the time of its release, the album was one of the most expensive ever made and was released only after EMI had paid a large amount following legal problems with the first track:
* Tracks
1) Death ...

Extravaganza
Review of Night At The Opera, A (Limited Edition Replica Vinyl) [Remastered] - Queen by
dave27
Advantages: Great rock pop stuff
Disadvantages: Sometimes a bit too varied and clever clever
...but it was with 'A Night At The Opera' in 1975 that the four piece really put down their marker.
It was an epic achievement and it was months in the making. They started work on songs in June 1975 and started recording in August, eventually spending three months in various studios around the country, working with regular producer Roy Thomas Baker.
As ever, the band had the legend 'No synthesizers' daubed on the album, but you could have been ...

A Night At The Opera--Queen's True Masterpiece
Review of Night At The Opera, A (Limited Edition Replica Vinyl) [Remastered] - Queen by
mmosier
Advantages: Great music by a legendary band
Disadvantages: None to speak of
A Night At The Opera, released in 1975, is their best work, in my opinion--it's completely overblown, pompous and pretentious, but it has just the perfect combination of classical influence, nostalgia, pop and visceral rock 'n roll to completely quantify these great musicians. Those rich, layered Queen harmonies have never been better, and Freddie Mercury's stylish croonings combined with the intricate guitar orchestrations of Brian May mark this ...

Music history begins here
Review of Night At The Opera, A (Limited Edition Replica Vinyl) [Remastered] - Queen by
CaptainKidd
Advantages: Music history via Bo Rhap , plus other great tunes .
Disadvantages: None - sheer poetry .
Queen - ‘A Night At The Opera‘ - released 1974 .
This op is based upon the remastered CD version of ‘A Night At The Opera’ , and as a result , sleeve notes may be different to those of the original album.
This has o be one of the most , if not the MOST revered Queen album of all time. Queen’s 4th studio album ( the previous being : Queen1 , Queen 2 , Sheer Heart Attack ) , and my favourite of all their albums .
So what do you get for your ...

Is this the real life?
Review of Night At The Opera, A (Limited Edition Replica Vinyl) [Remastered] - Queen by
flopsy
Advantages: Amazing songs, wonderful arrangements,
Disadvantages:
"A Night At The Opera" was Queen's big breakthrough album after years of playing lowly-paid gigs and never quite making the big-time. The main hit from this album was the ubiquitous "Bohemian Rhapsody" with its rock-opera influences. No one ever knew what it meant, not even Freddy Mercury who wrote it. But it was powerful and different veering as it does from high-opera to the amazing virtuosity of Brian May's rock guitar playing. The track has now ...

Ay Carumba!
Review of Night At The Opera, A (Limited Edition Replica Vinyl) [Remastered] - Queen by
Scapp70
Advantages: This
Disadvantages: That
This epinion is based on the Hollywood Records release from 1991.
This CD is really one of the better CDs in available to buy. It sort of stinks as a whole that everybody doesn't know it.
Everybody should try and obtain this CD.
I hope everybody who listens to music, will please go out and spend their good money at the CD store, while obtaining and adding this one to their collection.
This review used to be better. But I cannot write ...

Ridiculous, but mighty fine
Review of Night At The Opera, A (Limited Edition Replica Vinyl) [Remastered] - Queen by
Pritch
Advantages: Inspired collection of songs, with a few classics
Disadvantages: Some are just too weird
As you would expect from the album which orignally spawned Bohemian Rhapsody, this isn't all that sensible in places, you've got some good hard rock, with such songs as Sweet Lady, ballads such as Love of my Life, and some odd stuff. This is Queen at their weirdest. There's Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon, which is frankly ridiculous, and you've got one of Roger Taylor's rare bits of song writing in the form of I'm in Love With my Car, with the wonderfully ...

Great queen
Review of Night At The Opera, A (Limited Edition Replica Vinyl) [Remastered] - Queen by
paolo.damiano
Advantages: the queen albums are the best
Disadvantages: nothing
Hello everybody I begin excuse to you but I m an Italian boy so my English is not my first language.
The queen are my favorite group and this album is one of the best albums of the group. This morning I was listening it and I song it. Beyond the singles - bohemian rhapsody and you re my best friend I signal songs as Love of my life and the prophet song. The first one is a love song very intensive.
The thing that it has hit me is the core in ...

One of their best albums
Review of Night At The Opera, A (Limited Edition Replica Vinyl) [Remastered] - Queen by
ewiggins
Advantages: Got loads of good songs
Disadvantages: Quite a few of the songs are really weired (but thats not always a bad thing!!!!)
The first track on this album, 'Death on Two Legs' is one Queen's best songs in my opinion. I love the introduction, and the rest of it is almost as good, even if the lyrics are a bit cutting!!! It runs into the next song, 'Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon' really well and there is a complete change of mood. This song sounds a bit gay (no offence to homosexuals!!!) but it is a decent track. It is a bit similar to 'Seaside Rendezvous' which has some wierd ...

Possibly the best album in the world?
Review of Night At The Opera, A (Limited Edition Replica Vinyl) [Remastered] - Queen by
JohnnyMoped
Advantages: All tracks display originality, diversification and talent 'par excellence'.
Disadvantages: Are there any?
By the release of this, their fourth album, Queen had risen above many of the run-of-the-mill heavy rock bands of the time and begun to experiment in the studio. The sheer diversity of musical styles and innovative techniques that go to make this album so enjoyable is breathtaking: from the heavy rock of "Death On Two Legs" to the ragtime swing of "Good Company", through to the epic "Prophet's Song" and '20s jazz-influenzed "Seaside Rendezvous", it ...
