Advantages: Good Riddance Disadvantages: Platypus & Take Back
As they are probably one of the forerunners in the Ska rock scene I thought it only fair that my next op be on Green Day. Probably the first band in this musical genre I got into and of course they are very much the trendsetters for all the other bands that have followed. The bad are made up of;

Advantages: Magnificent tunes, shouty and angry Disadvantages: Last ride in
This album is Green Day's best. Weighing in with a hefty 18 tracks, it combines punk and rock with some of the traditional Green Day pop that we all love! This album is lyrically quite depressing, and the music is aggressive at times, ideal when you're in a bad mood and want to get some of that frustration out of your system. It's a great album to drive to, although it tends to make me drive very fast! NICE GUYS FINISH LAST --------------------- ... ...drums and a guitar assault. If you were asleep, you're awake now! This song is about how the nice guys always finish last in life (hence the title). Full of Billie Joe's sarcasm. HITCHIN' A RIDE --------------- Lumbers along in a kind of slouching way, until the typical blast when the guitars kick in. With a descending bassline it goes down low and then back up again. It was the first single from the album and didn't go down all that well, but I ...

Advantages: It being sung by Green Day Disadvantages: a few poor songs
... Near the close of Nimrod is "Good Riddance," an acoustic/ string- laden ballad that finds Billie Joe Armstrong taking a surprisingly tender, grown-up look into the past. "I hope you had the time of your life," he sings, acknowledging the difference between then and now -- this from a band whose breakthrough record was titled after the slang for feces (Dookie). Sometimes growing up is the right thing to do.

...the slow songs on the nimrod albums but still one of the good ones. The bass is good with plays well with the lyrics. This is a good song and is another that will be perminatly in your favourite Green Day songs after you listen to it a lot.
5: Scattered : This is one of the faster tracks on Nimrod with some really good lyrics and a great tune. The chorus is very catchy and you'll have you singing it again and again in the shower or walking down ... ...is fantastic. This is why Nimrod is the best.
7: Worry Rock : I really like this track. This is quite soft with a kind of 80's style to it. This is definitly another of my favourite which I suprisingly didnt like at first but love now. The lyrics are quite good with the chorus very catchy.
8: Platypus (I hate you) : Even form the title you can tell what kind of song this is going to be like, and you'd be right. The lyrics to this song aren't printed ...

Advantages: music you can listen and headbang to at moments! sublime! Disadvantages: if there are any I dont wanna know!
Green Day released Nimrod in 1997. It was a huge hit in America, but did not have the same effect over here. When asked to describe their music by a friend I struggled to provide a definition. Their music takes lessons from all music styles I have listened to! It is that cult teen sound that gets it into the cd player of every common room in the land and gets people singing along to lyrics they didn’t think they knew! Even Buffy the Vampire ... ...as the mind and heart. Nimrod has 18 tracks, 19 if you have the Japanese version! Straight from the first track you can hear their distinctive mix of different styles, as I will guide you through the album! *Nice guys finish last
As the song starts you can almost imagine a late 70’s punk band ready to explode into anarchistic shouting, but instead you are treated to that unmistakable voice we have come to know and love! *Hitchin’ a ride

Advantages: Extremely well written, full of energy and life. Disadvantages: One or two so-so tracks.
...lack.
Released in 1997, Nimrod was quite a change from Green Day's previous release, "Insomniac". Insomniac hadn't gone down well with fans (after all, who could possibly follow up "Dookie" and keep everybody happy?). Many critics accused the album of being an uninspired, watered-down version of Dookie. Nimrod, however, went down a blast.
Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day's singer/songwriter/guitarist, took a slightly more melodic approach to "Insomniac", ... ...drawn inspiration from all directions, including the likes of the Beatles. Songs like "Worry Rock" and "Scattered" sound like 60s pop songs disguised in a cloud of overdrive and fast drums, and "Redundant" is far more than "3 chord crap" as some people had described Green Day in the past.
With this album, Green Day explore various different styles of music. While some jumpy tracks such as "Hitchin' a Ride" succeed with honours, others such as the ...

Advantages: One of their best Disadvantages: May not be to everyone's tastes
OK, so here’s to my first product review in a little while! As many of you will know, I’m a mad/obsessed Green Day fan. I’ve reviewed three (I think) Green Day albums so far, so here’s another! I’ve also included a full track listing and the lyrics from all the songs on the album, to give you all a small insight into the tracks, even if you’re not going to listen to them! Enjoy.
1 – Nice Guys Finish Last
A fantastic, powerful intro, and a song ... ...Billie Joe in the verses, and an extremely catchy song. The song has a pretty obvious meaning – it’s always the nice guy who gets the shitty end of the stick.

Advantages: Brilliant album Disadvantages: last ride in...
Green day is a welcome alternative to tosh like Boyzone and Crazy frog that a lot of people my age listen to. Green day is a punk rock band, formed in 1989 and still going strong today, famed by their famous American Idiot album, which broke the band into superfamousterritory. Advantages: Musically varied, entertaining, flawless masterpiece Disadvantages: None that I can think of
Nimrod was one of the first albums that I ever bought, and to this day it is still one of my all time favourites. If this album (their 3rd released on a major label, however 5th if you count their two early ones) was a way of proving to their critics that they had sticking power, they definitely achieved it. Rather than being a bunch of tracks that were rejected from Dookie, the band experimented with different styles of music, even including ‘Last ... ...the typical Green Day sound they’d managed to perfect over their career. Album opener ‘Nice Guys Finish Last’ contains the typical, playful, pop-punk riffs we’ve come to expect from a Green Day album, so at the very start it’s tempting to assume that this could just be any other Green Day record. However, the album changes so much that this notion is dispelled fairly rapidly. Tracks such as ‘Hitchin’ A Ride’, ‘Platypus’ and ‘Take Back’, have a much ...

Advantages: Hard punk tunes Disadvantages: Not many
Well after Dookie was released we were looking for an album that would hit the spot that was made. Insomniac did not do this quite in many people's views but this album does it. The singles that were released were "Hitchin' a Ride", "Time Of Your Life", "Redundant". This album has a more hardcore sound to it than Dookie and Billie Joe sounds a lot more annoyed in parts. It is very explosive at times and it provided probably their most memorable song ... ...use an acoustic and that he could use it to write a good song. It is brought out at almost eery sad occasion and really is timeless.
"Hitchin' a Ride", "Nice Guys Finish Last" and "Scattered" are all familiar Green Day style and they are very good songs. Billie takes a break from more serious tracks to write the song about crossdressing and seeing how much he could mock them in "King For A Day". It is very funny for lyrics and is a great break before ...

Advantages: Variety of tracks Disadvantages: A couple of second rate tracks
Yet another outstanding album from Green Day from start to finish it just makes you want to listen to it forever. This album shows how Green Day can produce different genres of songs, for example the track 'Scattered' which is a punk rock kind of song, to the track 'Take Back' which has a heavy rock feel to it. Though there are also fun tracks as well for example 'King For A Day' which has a clowny tune to it but is still an all round good song. ... ...a track consisting of only instruments with a calm beach life feeling to it. The main song on the album has to be the acoustic track 'Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)' which shows that Green Day are not only a punk rock band but also a band who can produce different kind of songs from punk rock to slow and mellow songs, it also shows the ability to mix the genres with good effect. To finish the album off 'Prosthetic Head' does not disappoint a great ...
