...is a brilliant album called Northern Star. I got this for my birthday back in October 2000 and I have listened to it again and again. Melanie C in my eyes was always the most talented Spice Girls and having her branch off on her first solo album was great news. I was not let down, this debut solo album is amazing. Go! ...feel, I suppose. Track Two - NORTHERN STAR A haunting ballad, that had a great video. It was a Top 10 hit. I'm not sure what it's about but the singing is rather good and the chorus is really sweeping and emotional. This is actually my sister’s album though she hasn’t seen it since I “borrowed” it! Mel C has a superb, very distinguishable voice and has written some really fantastic songs in the past, as most people already know from her four years in the Spice Girls and her blossoming solo career. ...fourteen tracks on this album Northern Star vary from sweet ballads to shouting rock anthems, all of which are of a consistently high standard. Mel has co-written every one of the tracks too. Go ! is the first track, which begins the album energetically, with a fast-paced rock song. This is a good listen, though not her best. 7/10 The title track is next - Northern Star. The first solo album to be released by this Spice girl – with its twelve tracks this is Cd is never out of my cd player. I love Mel’s style and she has the best voice out of all the spice girls. She is also the only on to have actually made anything out of going solo. Who would have thought though that an ex-spice girl would be able to produce such a lovely sound like this. THIS TRACK ROCKS!! Northern Star was a hit, Goin Down was not so much of a hit, Never Be The Same Again was another hit, but Mel's latest - Turn To You, out on Monday 7th August is set to storm the charts! This is a dance tune and Mel claims that this is how her music will sound from now on. The video is interesting with her hair extensions and the dance club setting but still, the music is great! Melanie C's debut album Northern Star will suprise many people who have only ever seen her as "Sporty Spice". Tackling subjects and issues that the Spice Girls will never cover, the album is brilliant. Melanies vocal range is exceptional - perhaps not the best singer in the world, but one who certainly puts her whole heart into the music.
