Although I cant stand the spice girls I bought this album for my girlfriend some time ago. I was Quite suprised at the quality in this album with the quality of the songs on the album and also the contrasting differences between some of the songs on the album. It has been known for some time that Mel C is the only member of the spice girls with any talent (missed out on the looks though) and this debut album just puts most of her critics to eat ...

I can't keep "Northern Star" out of my CD player! The mix of styles of music is vast and the tracks are excellent. My favourites are the trancey "I Turn To You", and the beautiful ballads "Northern Star", "Closer, and "Feel The Sun". The duet with Lisa 'Left-Eye' Lopes is impressive and a well-deserved Number One. The final single from the album will be "If That Were Me" - to be released in November with all proceeds going to a homeless charity. ...

...crap. But then she released Northern Star, which is one beautiful song. If you listen carefully you will realise that there is a meaning behind it. I think critics should hear this album before critising. Never be the same again deserved the number one stop and I hope I turn to You gets there as well. ...like songs in this album. Northern Star seems to be telling about Finland, and well they're good, lyrics are perfect and music is good. It's different, it's not a Spice style and I like that! there's one disadvantage my granny+ mum can't stand it so I can listen it only when I'm alone. So it's mainly for youth! I have to say, I was not especially enthusiastic when I recieved this album, mostly because I intensely dislike Melanie C, but you've got to give it to her, the girl has done herself proud with this, her first solo offering... First of all, there is one reason why you should buy this album more than anything else, the artwork, it is laughable, especially the shot of her crawling along the pavement, how did she let the designers do it to her?, anyway... ...

OH DEAR GOD! I don't think I've ever heard a song that has made me want to puke as much as this one does. It's SOOO cheesy and sloppy. I hate Mel C anyway, but this song practically finished me off.
