...women, about being strong and not being ruled by men, and although I am all up for fair play, I did not want it rammed down my throat. I am pleased to say though, that after my wife played and played this whilst we were driving to the Midlands, it grew on me, and is now a firm favourite, and I have to admit the fact that she is extremely easy on the eye is always a plus point!
Opening track 'Not That Kind' was the second single released from this ... ...and if vocal gymnastics are not your type of thing, then I warn you in advance this album may not be for you, but there is certainly no Mariah Carey type warbling, so it works really well.
Debut release, and still one of my favourite tracks on the album is ' I'm Outta Love'. Now, I am not a dancer, but this song never fails to get me moving....not in a John Travolta way I must add, maybe a foot tapping and head nodding at the most! I love her voice ...

1. Not That Kind – This song was the second song to be released from the album. It has a really upbeat, retro feel to it. It starts out well; it has a cool, high mixture of sounds, with Anastasia’s voice over the top. The ‘bouncy’ kind of sounds are really good, they blend with her voice superbly. Then at about 20 seconds, she does a high-pitched ‘whoooo’. Then the song goes on, getting better, ... ...‘Cowboys & Kisses’; I am not sure what it means exactly, but other wise it is a good song. 4/5
4. Who’s Gonna Stop The Rain – This is one of my favourites (they all are really), but this one means something, it has a thoughtful feel to it, which is nice. "I`m outta love" dance number that made this woman known to me anyway. Nice opening, again rather 70`s funky feel. Tina Turner..ish, Aretha Franklin. Her voice has attitude. Another toe tapper, good one to do aerobics to, if that`s your bag… I must admit that I have strutted my stuff to this track on a number of occasions recently ... ...along quite gently but it`s not one of my favouries although nice use of vocal ab libs.
"Love is alive" Space ship has landed in the opening of this track…heavy funky track reminds me of Starsky and Hutch and Huggy Bear…which I suppose will only mean something to you if you can remember the series!! Remember that car..with the red stripe down the side…always wished my Dad would get one just like it..car that is..from the series…Starsky..oh ...

...Track 1 – Not that Kind
I really love this song. It is both funky and has explosive vocals that we have all come to expect from Ani. Some people might think that Ani is ‘over the top’ with some of her singles but I don’t think so at all, in fact I think that it is great that someone with such a great voice isn’t afraid to shout about it. This is a great sing-a-long song from Ani. But then again I think that all of her songs are great sing a long ... ...of the high notes but not over do it like I think many artists would. Therefore I give this song 10/10.

The second single release and also the namesake to the album provides a great start. Beginning with a rather short intro from the twanging of a guitar, Anastacia’s distinctive vocals explode onto the scene. Various worthwhile effects are evident throughout on the guitars which provide a great accompaniment. As with usual ‘pop’ songs, Not that kind follows the pattern with a very strong ... ...release as I myself am not too keen on the song. The previous tracks were much catchier. The song does demonstrate her voice well though especially near the ending of the song. Not the best track on the album and could have been better. 6/10

...scene with her debut album, Not That Kind. Anastacia has become a female artist due to her voice which sounds like to me a, a white person with a coloured persons voice. Some say it’s annoying but I think it’s a very different voice, which is what most produces are looking for and anyway she a big hit in the UK. ...that puts her alongside if not beyond the other pop divas of today. 'I'm Outta Love', which was her first single combines soft rock and dance. 'Cowboys and kisses', the third track which somewhat sounds country-infused even has the verve's 'lucky man' chord sequence as it's base. 'Love is alive' has a truly funky feel to it.

The Debut Album from Anastacia (Not That Kind) is released in April 10th 2001, previously the release date was posted as 15/1/2001!. I have Mp3 Downloads of the whole album, I intend buying it as soon as I can and in my opinion so should you. Described in music circles as America’s Best Kept Secret she must be heard to be appreciated and to be believed. This New Diva with Titanium plated vocal chords has the most powerful voice I have heard, ... ...At present the first single released in the UK is “I’m Outta Love”, get a taste, become addicted, and buy the next single “Not That Kind” wow I want the album.
Catch both videos on MTV Pure music, see my point, see what I mean, wallets at the ready, you bet!!!!
Back to the album, a combination of Rock, Pop, Western and Love song/ballad, something for everybody 12 tracks in total and surprisingly in my opinion 9 winners.

Although Anastacia would no doubt be flattered by such comparisons, I actually detest those artists. Simpering, mushy lyrics (ok there's a few dodgy ones on this ... ...conveying emotion are not me at all. All the more reason to take my 4 stars seriously. It may not be helpful to anyone looking to buy the cd, but this girl has something - the look, the style - and most importantly (and sadly lacking in some circles) THE VOICE. ...love and the title track, not tht kind, the reast of the songs were bland and lacked any originality other than the classic diva type tunes. It seems like the people behind this album thought that the woman and the voice could pull it though, it nearly worked but not for me.
I hope that Anastacia produces some new original material and mixes her great voice with some great music to match. ...

I danced to this song(im outta love) way before it came out,I had to teach somone to dance to it at work,when I heard it at the gym I was running on the tredmill and nearly fell of doing the dance to it!
Its the kind of music you cant help but dance to,the kind of music you can never get out of your head all day.
I brought the album and really loved it.
All the tracks are great (including "im outta love" "not that kind" and "cowboys and kisses").
... ...it out of your head.
The album costs £12.00 and you can buy it from most good record stores but I got mine from woolworths and you could buy two Cds for £22 (the offer is still on I think) so I got this one and Maddonners Music album.
All the songs are good I think and they all last long too.
I think most of the tracks are really original and the quality of them all is good.
The cover is good and there are pictures and some lyrics inside the ...

Advantages: Strong and powerful songs with so much emotion. Disadvantages: "Not That Kind" is not that kind of album that the charts lead everyone to believe. It is not full of strong performances.
Anastacia's three biggest chart hits so far are on this album, "Not That Kind", "I'm Outta Love" and "Made For Lovin' You". These are possibly three of the best songs of the year. Anastacia has a voice of an angel on steriods. So strong, powerful, unique, sexy and amazing.
Although there are three of the greatest songs of 2001 on the album there are a number of medicore songs that remind me of Mariah Carey and her soppy tones. These songs include ... ...These songs are dissappointing because they sound like songs written for MAriah or Gabriel. Where did the power, energy and life of "Not That Kind" go? I do recommend this album eventhough some tracks lack the energy and uniqueness that has been known of Anastacia through her chart hits.
If you like a mixture of the strong and emotional along with a little softness and soppyness then "Not That Kind" is the album for you. ...
