Advantages: its a great album Disadvantages: takes a bit of getting used to for some
...stepdad decided to put on OK Computer, I wasnt really sure about this as i was a bit cautious of british rock ( at that time the whole oasis and coldplay type of bands really didnt do it for me and i was more attracted to american rock) but i thought that i might aswell listen to the band that inspired one of my favorites.
My first impressions of the album were 'its ok', when the first song had played, however the second song 'paranoid android' ... ...you can see in muse. I immediately became more interested, as the song had a slightly depressing feel that you can find in lots of other rock bands, plus the frontman had a good voice to fit the mood. I'll tell you how each song sounded (to me)
1. Airbag- wasn't sure at first, but it has definatly grown on me, slightly good feeling, but not exactly the kind of thing that you would play at a party or anything 2. Paranoid android- sets a slightly ...

Advantages: great songs, lyrical masterpieces Disadvantages: a bit melancholic
...for weeks before the album OK computer came out, and I thought it was tremendous, to be honest, I had never heard anything quite like it. It was dark and mysterious, yet quite boppy at the same time. It's difficult to describe this music. It has been described as "painfully beautiful", and I think that I could find more fitting words. The songs of OK computer are very deep, much more so than those of the Bends, and going further back, Pablo Honey, ... ...at the charts now, it is plain to see that Coldplay model themselves on Radiohead. I think that they are poor by comparison, but many disagree, and consider it a "tribute". Many who seem to overlook the genius of Thom Yorke and the boys claim that Coldplay are doing new things, as if using the break in their voices has not been done before (for about a decade) by Yorke?
This album is a must for all into indie music, or even popular music. They are, ...

Advantages: Perhaps the best album you will ever hear. Disadvantages: none.
Radiohead have created a masterpiece. OK Computer is one of the best albums that I have ever heard. Every song, every note and every chord are utterly perfect. The tracks are linked in a flawless sequence and each one sets up the next superbly. If you thought The Bends couldn’t be improved on, you were wrong.
Every song on this album conveys emotion and feeling. The lyrics are poetic and the insrumentals are impossible to find fault with. Each song ... ...be another album quite like OK Computer. Especially now tat Radiohead have started to experiment with electronic music. A friend of mine who was at their live gig in Glasgow a while ago said that they played some new songs that were a miture of guitar and synthysiser, so perhaps in the future we can expect a slightly Moby-ish effect on some songs.
Anyway, anyone who doesn’t already have OK Computer has to go out and get it now, either from the record ...

Advantages: Radiohead's best, better than the Bends Disadvantages: Some sound a bit samey
...surrounding the release of Radiohead's OK computer. Would it live up to the high standards set by the bends? I was so convinced it would, I laid down my cash before reading any reviews of it. It far exceeded my expectations. Songs such as Paranoid Android and Let down contain sounds that I certainly have never heard before in my music listening life while songs such as No Surprises are quite genuinely moving. It's very different sounding to The bends, ...

Advantages: Every single track from beginning to end Disadvantages: play this when your drunk and there will be tears before bedtime
As a big fan already of the Oxford band i waited with great excitment for the next installment of Radiohead catalogue, and i wasn`t left disappointed.
From the very first track (the brilliant Airbag ) to the last (The Tourist)you are taken through the minds of the band which turns out to be very topsy-turvy and just a little bit twisted but well worth the ride.
Although all of the tracks are excellent in thier own right , my favourites, the singles ...

Advantages: Solid body of Work , clever , dark humoured and beautiful Disadvantages: Over listening causes unstoppable love of this album
Take A band and allow to simmer for five albums . If done correctly results should prove good to favourable . Radiohead are gourmet music , O.K Computer is undoubtedley the cherry on the cake of their catalogue . For those of us who have heard all five albums , what role does O.K Computer play ? It is the perfect bridge from the acoustic/ rock of Pablo Honey and The Bends to the more experimental edge of sampling and and loops of Kid A and Amnesiac ... ...Paranoid Android , meanwhile the quiet acoustic beauty of Exit Music (for a film ) and No Surprises . On the front of it much like the first two albums .When looking beyond the front though we find that the drums on Airbag , The background noise on Exit Music and the ebow (low in the mix) on the Tourist are all loops and then of course Fitter Happier . If anything was a clue to Kid A it was FH . With it's non melodic vocals and loops , samples and ...

Advantages: if you buy it you will own one of the greatest albums. ever. Disadvantages: it will make the rest of your albums seem a waste of time.
OK Computer was an album that had everything against it. It was the "notoriously difficult" third album for the band (Be Here Now, anyone?) and had to match it's predecessor, 1995's the Bends, one of the greatest albums of it's era, to be considered a success. In the end it was more than a success: it set the example for every other contemporary band to try (and fail) to match. It was stunning. OKC was released in 1997 and instantly hailed as a masterpiece. ... ...honour of placing it top of their "100 greatest albums of all time" was seen by many people to be justified. Awards such as this can be argued about for ever, and there never will be one definitive answer, but OKC has certainly earned the right to be included in any such debate. Picking up the best elements of the Bends, (i.e. amazing musical ability, genuinely meaningful lyrics (in the majority of cases), seemingly perfect melodies and general all ...

Advantages: Fantastic album Disadvantages: Fitter Happier.....why?!
When this album came out, everyone heralded it as the future of music, and most people thought that the Oxford lads had gone bonkers. With the power of hindsight, the change from "The Bends" to "OK Computer" was nothing compared to that of their latest material. This record features classics such as "Paranoid Android" - an epic to rival "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Karma Police", surreal and depressing(ish), and the moving "No Surprises". Lyrically this ... ...to write less obvious weirdness. He realised that he could sing about garden furniture and still make it sound incredible. My favourite song on this album is "The Tourist", co-written by Johnny Greenwood. From the start you know that this song is a bit of an insight into the minds of Yorke and Greenwood, with its bizarre time signature. The chorus is a wailing tortured moan of "Hey man, slow down, idiot, slow down". Trippy. If you forget about the ...

Advantages: quality music Disadvantages: a little deppressing
After gaining world wide recognition through `the bends` radiohead attempted to relive that fame via `ok computer`. Another successful album is here with 12 tracks and some great hits. The first track `airbag` immedialty will grip the listener and has a strong relation to the previous album. The second track is the famous `paranoid android` and is a very complex song contains heavy and mellow themes. Its 7/4 time gives the song that progressive feel ... ...to see it. This album has song after song of quality. `Exit music` is a very dreary but great song and could easily be one of the best tracks on the album. Track 6-`karma police` is one of the best written by the band and has a stunning chorus. There are many other great songs on this album including the sweet `no suprises`. The only bad side to this album is it is very depressing and has a dreary feeling. But they do this well and deserve credit. ...

Advantages: Pure genius. Disadvantages: No catchy dance routine
...students and rock friendly teens. Ok computer is the complete album. Rarely since the Beatles, some would argue ever, has music taken such a huge leap forward. The Album kicks off with Airbag a guitar orientated track of which sums up the spirit of the Album before slipping into the Sublime ‘Paranoid Android’ a Bohemian Rhapsody for the 90’s. Other highlight tracks, as it would be impossible to mention them all, are No Surprises, ... ...of depression, Karma Police, a lyrical whirlwind of Thom Yorke and his wailing guitar accompaniment, and Exit Music (For a film), a haunting story and real poetry. Ok computer is not for everyone. If you find yourself dancing to steps or humming along to S club 7 the chances are you will not have the intellect to understand the album (in fact you probably wouldn’t be old enough to read). This, along with the less subtle What’s the Story ...

Advantages: Wide and varied, still within their style, pushing the boundaries yet again, when everyone expected The Bends II Disadvantages: Track Seven, it's not big and it's not clever, definately not clever.
Simply: this is one of the greatest albums ever made, but I still don't know if the bends is better. Intelligent, if by their admission overlong, tour de force of the most innovative British band in the last thirty years. Paranoid Android - Johnny's furious solo, that classic squelching noise, a true all time great. Lucky, No Surprises, Karma Police and Exit Music are all quite and deadly songs, simple at the core but craftfull at the end. Electioneering ... ...is a genius uneasy listening track. Airbag starts with a ripcurl off a riff and you know it's good. Let Down, Subterranean Homesick Alien (surely inspired by Subterranean Homesick Blues - Bob Dylan in the 60's - if only in name) and The Tourist all have their upbeat place. BUT WHY OH WHY OH WHY did they put on track seven??? Fitter Happier, IF on there at all should have been at the end, after a five minute gap, not slapped in the middle. It is good ...

Advantages: Better than sex argueably Disadvantages: None
So much had already been made of Oxford's Radiohead, and the release of 'OK Computer' propelled them to even greater heights. This multi-award winning album is certainly a masterful piece of music worthy of any collection.
Some have claimed that its darker nature than previous albums ('Pablo Honey' and 'The Bends') makes it a harder pill to swallow, and this may indeed be true - but Radiohead have come of age, and its progressiveness has rightly ... ...Thom Yorke's nervous, tortured voice is both joyous and painful - 'Let Down' will bring a lump to your throat; the grand 'Karma Police' and neurotic 'Paranoid Android' are Radiohead at full stretch; Yorke laments the emptiness of a life with 'No Surprises', and 'Lucky's soaring, haunting melody provokes overwhelming compassion.
Make sure you're alone, draw the curtains, turn down the lights and turn up this beautiful album. ...

Advantages: The album features paranoid android Disadvantages: None really... Radiohead may sound depressing to the uninitiated
The opening moments of the first song make you think... tambourine.
The tambourine shaking behind a beatifully strange guitar intro actually leaves an impression, scary huh?
Of course its a really great track, and perfect for the start of an album, but is, unfortunately blown out of the water by the track which follows. This track, as any radiohead fan should know, it Paranoid Android. This is most definetely one of the best tracks ever released ... ...emotions during its 6 minute long excapade. The modern day Bohemian Rhapsody, this song is excellent... and unbelievably catchy for a song so long. Another stand out song is Karma Police, which was released as a single.
This is followed by a strange track called Fitter Happier, which features a computer voice rambling on, not really making any sense.
Overall, this is a top album, which makes the use of electronic gizmos and gadgets while still ...

Advantages: An album made as an album, not a collection of singles thrown together Disadvantages: None that come to mind
The 90's had produced so much musically that was inspiring, uplifting and exciting that there was no shortage of albums and artists that were vying for the prize of "Best of the Decade". The UK was in the middle of "Oasis mania" when out slipped the third album from Radiohead, a band who had not only had a hugely acclaimed second album in "The Bends", but had also done what no other British artist could do at the time - cracked America. Strangely it's also an album with no real stand out track - it has to be listened to as an album, from track 1 to 12, for you to "get it". "Paranoid Android" is, whilst quite artistically indulgent, a song which improves with every listen, as more and more of its subtleties and charms ...

The phenomenal and outstadning Bends was always going to be a tough act to follow, but Radiohead did it by doing something complety new and ground breaking. they never sold out and they never just continued the success of the Bends by providing their fans with the same old same old. This album is quite orginal, superb and thrilling. All the tracks are unquestionably masterpieces.
