Back Beyond Blue Review ofPaper Scissors Stone - Catatoniaby

Advantages: Classier | Cerys' voice | Better lyrics Disadvantages: Not as easy to get into as other albums
About 18 months ago Catatonia seemed more cursed than blessed, their latest single, Karaoke Queen, entered at a lowly 34 in the charts despite them lowering themselves to appear on Live & Kicking, their album had also not done as well as International Velvet both critically and commercially. It was then decided by the band to take a well earned break and to see where they were headed, this fuelled rumours of the bands imminent splitting up and even ...

Advantages: Thrills Abound In The Most Pleasant Surprise Of 2001. Disadvantages: The In-between Albums.
I must admit I lost all interest in Catatonia after 'International Velvet'. The vitality and energy of their brilliant debut 'Way Beyond Blue' seemed to have dissipated and in its place stood a diluted, lacklustre reincarnation. DISSAPOINTMENT Review ofPaper Scissors Stone - Catatoniaby
mama_frateli
Advantages: 3 or 4 good tracks Disadvantages: 3 or 4 unbearable tracks!!!!
...first time I listened to Paper Scissors Stone I was very dissapointed. The mother of Misogyny, Godspeed, Imaginary friend and Shore leave are basically awful, there is no other way to describe them. It seems as though a lot of songs were rushed to get the album released on time. On a positive note, the album is still worth buying for the brilliant songs, Is everybody here on drugs? Stone by Stone, immediate circle and Fuel which are typically brilliant ...

Catatonia have produced some great albumns (I know they've produced 4 +an EP but correct me im wrong). They're previous offerings include 'Way Beyond Blue', 'International Velvet' from which their hit song 'Mulder and Scully' came from and its success bought them into the publics eye. 'Equally Cursed and blessed' (personally my least favourite) and now their new release "paper Scissors Stone".
The songs on this albumn are great as good as those ...
