Advantages: A good follow up to WGA

The 8th of March 1999 was a very special day for the Stereophonics. This day saw the release of their 2nd and by far the best album to date. The Stereophonics are a very special band who formed many years ago under the name of “Tragic Love Company” but then stole the name from lead singer Kelly Jones’ dads gramophone. When listening to this album don't make the mistake by starting listening to the released tracks. The rest of the album is easily on par with their first, if not better. Tracks like 'Is yesterday tomorrow today,' 'A minute longer,' and 'I stopped to fill my car up' show the talent of this band, and they have a lot of it, i defy anyone to not like the Stereophonics they are one of the best and most original bands of the 90's with big things ahead of ... Advantages: The singles
Disadvantages: the last song is dire

Now don't get me wrong, this is a good album. It just doesn't live up to the promise of the first. Other than the singles the rest of the album is only average, and I find the last song on the album is too slow, with Kelly Jones whining along for me to listen to. The Stereophonics’ second album, released in 1999 amid high expectations from their excellent debut, Word gets around… and we were not let down. 13 tracks, 5 releases, 5 excellent videos (not on the CD, but available on video/DVD) this is one of my favourite albums ever. ...and decided to buy their Performance and Cocktails album to sample more. The album is orgasmic and stayed in my CD player for months. The whole album is an extention of the chart hits and is superbly put together. I am not the greatest fan of Oasis and Blur and tend to find a lack of depth to their songs. 'Performance and Cocktails', the 2nd album produced by the Stereophonics is really amazing. I absolutely love 'the bartender and the thief' as it has a really catchy beat. The album, priced at around £15 for the CD contains 13 tracks which are all good. The album was a nominee for the Brit. awards 2000 and i'm not surprized!! Performance and cocktails is much more commercial that Word gets round, or it could just be that it’s more popular, I can’t decide whether the sound has changed or not. Well it’s certainly popular if nothing else, it seems that almost everyone I know has a copy of this album. I can say that I am a particular fan of the Stereophonics mainly cos of their lead singer’s mellow voice. After ‘The Bartender and the Thief’ shot them to pop fame I listened to some of their older tracks and was inspired. But somehow this album just seems to have quite a few of those tracks that you catch on to. Due to huge success touring the world in the late 1990's. The boyz from the valleys had to produce a follow up album to Word Gets Around.
