A farcry from the stereotype I may have had thrust upon myself through my previous album reviews, it wouldn't be entirely unfair to say a verdict from myself on a Katie Melua album isn't going to be as generous as I have to a cast of R&B artists. After not being keen on her last album quite so much (piece by piece) which I felt was slightly lacking after her amazing debut, I can honestly say that with this latest offering, Katie is right back on form again with Pictures- her difficult third album. Advantages: Soothing melodies as you would expect
Disadvantages: Nothing New

The soft vocals and beautiful ballads of Katie Melua, sound familiar. I feel her work is getting to the end of its range, she has created some lovely songs and this album has its fair share of those, but lovely only gets you so far. Once you have heard two albums worth of soft melodies you are just crying out for this album to be more and finally push her career on from this charming rut, unfortunately this would be wishful thinking. Disadvantages: not for those who need a perk up

this is Katie Melua's third album which includes the song "if you were a sailboat". she gives a calm slow and gentle moving music which relaxes muscles, releases tension and provides a beatifully calm mood and atmosphere. i think this album is great for those who just like to chill back and wind down after a busy day and just forget about everything a sink into a romantic novel. wow what an album! with katies' soft soothing vocals and a great mixture of tracks its no wonder its so popular. if your having a dinner party, driving in the car or even just relaxing at home its perfect for all occasions and bound to lift anyones mood. my personal favourite track being 'if you were a sail boat' it has Katies' original lyrics and reminds you of why she has been so successful over the past years. with a colourful and relaxed album ... Disadvantages: It could be said that this is a bit too familiar.

I guess the questions we want answered are: Has this album taken us to a new place ? Does it feel familiar enough to be recognisably Katie Melua ? The second question is easier than the first. Yes, if you are a fan of Katie Melua then you will enjoy this album.
