Advantages: A work of breathtaking quality Disadvantages: None worthy of mention
...music or its time. Play is such an album. Moby has produced an album of breathtaking beauty and scope that has, slowly but surely, taken the music world by storm. From the heart rending 'Why does my heart feel so bad' to the mesmeric 'Natural Blues', Play is an album stocked full of classics. The inlay to the album contains Mobys views on life, the universe and everything. Of particular interest to me were his views on vegetarianism, his eloquence, ...
Recently I was watching a trailer for a programme on Sky tv and there was an amazingly haunting track to accompany it. I had no idea who the band or artist was until a friend of mine bought me 'Play' by Moby and then it all became clear! There were some very familiar soundtracks from adverts and trailers for many programmes. I read recently that some 450 companies have used or will be using tracks from the album, perhaps that could be viewed as overkill ...
Advantages: Lively, Fun, but with depth Disadvantages: Some tracks are a bit reptative
I wasn't much of a Moby fan until I heard some of the tracks off this album. So I decided to buy the album using a cheap internet offer, and had a quick listen when it arrived. I was very impressed, Moby has moved on a long way with this album, it is sophisticated and catchy. It also has some smashing synth lines, which remind me a bit of Gary Numan. The main disadvantages of this album are the very repetitive tracks (Honey, Find My Baby) at the ...
Advantages: can fit your mood Disadvantages: maybe not your cup of tea
...mix of tunes, Play incorparates many of his recently released chart toppers and forthcoming releases. If you have any of moby's previous albums you will know what to expect, wrong!!!!! moby has a lot of varied stlyings and is very different from his other offerings.
There are tracks such as ‘why does my heart?’ which are good just to chill out to and fastpaced tracks that have you dancing out of your seat such as 'bodyrock' . Just get it I think ...
Advantages: Suits every mood Disadvantages: Can be a little depressing
What can I say? I cannot recommend this album enough. It's everything you could possibly want. Fast paced dance (Bodyrock) down to the floaty "Why does my heart feel so bad?" and everything in-between. At 18 tracks too you'll not regret purchasing one of the albums of the century! You only have to watch tv for an hour these days and you are likely to here at least 2 tracks from this album such is its wide ranging appeal. This may mean it can become ...
“Play, Moby’s most successful album to date, is certainly a varied one. Some of what’s here is happy, upbeat commercial stuff (“Find My Baby”, “Bodyrock”) which although is good for car adverts is hardly inspiring. Thankfully the greater part of the album is much better, there’s the soulful “Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?” and “Natural Blues” as well as the beautiful “Porcelain”, however if you didn’t like The Beach this particular song could be ...
Advantages: Great Disadvantages: Some tracks a bit samey
"Play" is an excellent album. It features Moby's recent hit "Natural Blues", which is my favourite song on the album. There are many other tracks on the album which are in a similar vain, so any fan of the aforementioned hit will appreciate this album, as all 18 tracks are of excellent quality and there are no fillers so therefore this album is very good value for money. Some of my favourite tracks are "Honey", "Southside", "Body Rock" and "Inside". ...

Review of Play - Moby
This is not the sort of thing I like to listen to ordinarily. Easy Listening is what I would call this if I hadn't bought it. But I did buy, and it's brilliant. Some songs are incredibly mellow and saddening (Why does my heart feel so bad, Natural Blues, and the absolutly brilliant Porcelain) but some are really great dancy tunes like Body Rock. The main fact is that you will recognise just about all of these songs because nearly all have been used ...
Moby released this album titled Play ages ago, but has only over the past few months had recognition. This is probably mainly due to the continuous playing of the various tracks from the album on car commercials, radio stations and music television; and also appearing on the film Beach. This is an album for all music lovers, because half of the songs you probably heard of whether it is on the television or on radio but the music is quite smoothing, ...
This is the best album ever.It is made by the musical genius who is Moby(So named as he is related to Herman Melville the writer of Moby Dick). This album has everything. It has gospel parts. It has intrumental parts.I sort of has ballads but they are not like your boy band ballads. They are really good and it also has it jump around songs(Bodyrock). This is an essential album for everyone who likes music and for those who don't.If you don't own this ...
I've been a big fan of Moby for years, and if you know what his music was like before this album then you might think that I wouldn't like his extreme change in style. However, I am all for it. He presents in this album some incredible music, the likes of which has not been heard ever before. You can tell immediately that Moby is a man of thought, he cares a lot about people and about life (read the inlay notes for his exceptional outlooks on the ... ...to the excellent Run On (my personal favourite), this music will definitely have you thinking and feeling. Moby uses a lot of chanting-style old-style vocals that really capture the atmosphere of the tracks perfectly. Another favourite of mine is the extremely emotional Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad? which when coupled with the cartoon video had me streaming tears. It seems to say something different to everyone, and the same can be said about Moby's ...

Goddammit whats going on here? How difficult can it be to take a selection of old blues tunes, sample the vocals and stick some kind of electronica or bigbeat nonsense behind it? I could do this in my sleep!
Distilling the essence of any kind of music and creating a sound using that essence can go one of two ways, either you end up with something blindingly original or you end up with a kind of 'Coffee Table' music that has been diluted for the ... ...sense). Bear in mind that this man wrote Go!, possibly the greatest deep house track ever and his last album was a punk/thrash album. To me this would indicate that 'Play' is solely a means of making money.
I wouldn't say that the music on this album is crap but it is definatly over produced for mass consumption and i know that Moby is capable of doing far better. There is nothing to challenge anyone or anything on this album and surely the whole ...

Don't be put off by the album's "techno" classification. I thought about buying it a long time ago when I heard everyone ranting on about it but then I read reviews which said it was a techno album, and techno is definately not my sort of thing so I put off buying it. After hearing one excellent single too many I took the plunge. I am so glad I bought it I was only expecting to like a few tracks, but I was in for a real surprise. Nearly all of the ... ...I would put this album in to. This album is so unique that it cannot really be classified. Moby is obviously very talented musically. Every song on this album is of a high quality, and there are some fantastic stand-out tracks, most noticably the blues-inspired "Run On" and the fantastic "Porcelain". There are a few upbeat tracks on the album, but they are great too! I hope Moby produces more records like this in the future. If you doubt this album ...

Advantages: Great debut album Disadvantages: They've gotta keep it up!
When I first heard the single Natural Blues I thought `Wow, what a great track!`. It took me a while to find out who sang the song and then, not having heard of Moby before, it took a giant leap of faith to buy the CD on the strength of just one track - I have lots of CDs where I like 1 track and hate the rest. But it was definitely the right decision. The record haunts you, in the nicest possible way of course. The different feel to the tracks almost ... ...record on each listening - it seems as the record changes with your mood. Lots has been written in the already submitted reviews about people's favourite tracks, mine is still Natural Blues, but Porcelain, Honey and Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad come very close seconds. And then of course there's South Side and Find My baby..... In summary, definitely one that I'm glad that I own and one that I'll be playing for quite a few years. Here's looking ...

What a fantastic album! "Play" strikes a superb balance between listenable lyrics and catchy music. The songs have both style and verve, and manage to really capture the listener's imagination. Moby really does create a most incredible mix of music in his latest album. The mix of hip-hop, pop, indie and even gospel music is really original, and great to listen to. It is easy to listen to the tracks again and again... they are that good! Once you've ...
