Advantages: great songs which are funny Disadvantages: none, well album a little short
...latest full-length (not literally!) album Pump Up The Valuum see them getting ever more popular than they were before. Actually I would say that NOFX hate the media, with comments likes this you can see why: “…So a lot of people wonder why we don’t ever do interviews. Here are a few of our reasons, we mainly stopped because were tired of being exploited…” What they are basically saying is that they don’t want to ... ...c****y magazine, they also don’t want to appear on teen magazines (I can sympathise!). NOFX are very happy with how successful they have become without the media and are quite happy to stay out of the mainstream. ~~A Little about NOFX ~~ They are a small punk band from someplace in America, who cares it is a very big place, they have had numerous albums, EP’s out so many that it is hard to remember them all. Their bass player, Fat Mike, ...

Well they've now been going 15 years believe it or not and here they are with another great album! Here is a little run throught of all the songs and what they are about: And Now for something completely similar: This song is a short intro which consists of fast guitar riffs and fast drumming, and of course some singing, a great way to kick off the album! Take two Placebos and call me lame:This is a micky take out of "Placebo" as with most NoFx albums ... ...a nice start to the album. Whats the matter with parents today?: This song is about parents these days, it has lyrics such as "Dads dressed up like motly crew and why is mums hair dyed blue?" a micky take out of modern day parents they basically sing basically the opposite to what they are like in real life, a funny song! Dinosaurs will die: This track starts off with a humourus warning saying "this is not a test of the emergancie broadcast system, ...

Advantages: Lots of cool songs Disadvantages: Maybe too much like 'So Long'
...be their last. While Pump Up The Valuum still holds NOFX to the old skool punk attitude they helped to forge, my only concern is that at times it sounds a lot less happy (once again this was a gripe I had with the previous record).
I do say at times (and that also does not mean that the songs are not good). For the rest, Fatty and the boys are as loud, vulgar and punked up as ever!
Although the album takes a swing away from their famous ska beats ... ...Album'), it does not fail to deliver in diversity. There are the sad (yet really catchy) songs like 'Dinosaurs Will Die', 'What's The Matter With Parents Today' and 'Take 2 Placebos...' which will have you nodding along in a state somewhere between frustration, sorrow and dumb happiness.
Then there are the downright hilarious 'White Trash' style upbeat dirty-punk tracks like 'Pharmacist's Daughter' and 'Clams Have Feelings Too'. These tracks stand ...

Another astounding offering from one of the finest punk bands ever. Thankfully, no big changes in their style - they are still as punky as ever! A little more so than their last release, "Punk in Drublic", and a lot more so than the slower "Heavy Petting Zoo" from '96. Like all other NOFX albums, there is a good amount of very catchy songs (which you just can't get out of your head!) and pleasing lyrics to keep you listening again and again. One ...

Advantages: It's got some pretty good fast songs Disadvantages: It's got alot of not very good songs
I am such a big fan of NOFX, so, as you can imagine as soon as I heard that this album was coming out I was so excited. I pre ordered it and got it in the mail the day it was released. As I placed it in my CD player my hands were shaking with anticipation. I pressed play and started to listen.
I played through the first four songs which were fast and fairly good songs (And now for something completely similar, Take two placebos and call me lame, ... ...and I was thinking yeah, this is alright but it's not really classic NOFX, maybe it'll get better later on?!? Then the unconceivable happened- It got worse!!!
The next three songs were really lame and although they were quite melodic, they were uninspired and did not get me amped so I got bored listening to them.
The song after that (Stranger than fishin') was pretty good and started to remind me of the NOFX that got me into punk, but this was ...

Advantages: rockin album and worth every penny Disadvantages: some songs are very short
NOFX do it again with this great new album. It gives a wide range of sound as is my personal favourite of all there albums. The songs are short and sharp just as punk rock should be. If you are a huge fan of indie/punk music then you shouldn't miss buying this album. Many of todays bands say that NOFX were there inspiration and even though they are 30 odd years old they still are the number one in the punk rock industry and this album demonstrates ...

Advantages: Every song is fantastic Disadvantages: A really dogy CD cover!
“Pump up the Valuum” is the latest offering from the legendary punk band, NOFX – and it’s well worth getting! Every one of the 14 songs on the album has been soaked in speed, fury and pure energy. From the speedy “Clams have feelings too”, to “take 2 placebos and call me lame” and “bottles to the ground”, every track oozes class. They have some amazing guitar riffs and lightning fast drum beats to accompany the hilarious lyrics too. The humour is ... ...punk bands, proving they don’t take themselves too seriously. For example, the song “What’s the matter with parents today is hilarious: The punksters are dumbfounded at the sight of their anarchic parents who smoke pot, have sex in public and LIKE their band. None of the songs are particularly lengthly, but that brings out the whole punk experience: an insane couple of minutes that burn out quickly, but burn faster than any other music in existence. ...

“Pump Up The Valuum” is the latest from NOFX , and it has to be my favourite of all their albums. It shows off their ability in music right from the start with “And Now For Something Completely Similar”, blasting right through with powerful punk rock until “Theme From A NOFX Album” as a brilliant end to a brilliant album. If you haven’t heard the band before, then look out for Fat Mike’s flat and brattish vocals which really say what NOFX are all ...

Advantages: very originol songs and funny as well Disadvantages: may offend
...album cover, you know that Pump up the Valuum is going to be another classic album from NOFX. It depicts a Nurse (well kind of) downing what looks like a bottle of pills. This is the sort of cover you see once and you instantly know who it's by the next time you see it. Pump up the Valuum carries on their own unique style of Punk Rock extremely well, many bands have tried to copy the style which NOFX have but none have come close.

Great new album from NOFX. From the very first note I was impressed. It got me hooked. Some fantastic songs on this album. For example "Dinosaurs Will Die" is a great song about the demise of the commercial superficial music industry. Which is fair enough I suppose. And "Take 2 Placebos and Call Me Lame" is one of those songs that you love from the very first time you hear it and then it grows on you even more. Some really hilarious lyrics too with ... ...reading the lyrics book will make you smile. This album's shorter than you would think with like 18 songs packed into a tiny 30 odd minutes but that doesn't take away from the greatness of the album in the slightest. You get a lot for your money even if the songs are short. ...

“After 15 years we’re still having fun”, or so the members of NOFX claim in this, their tenth, and one of their best albums!! Both loud and punk-like tracks they introduce what is a great 34 minutes of entertainment.
There are many great tracks featuring on this album, which I believe, is one of their best to date. ‘What’s the matter with parents today?’ deals with punk rocker parents, ‘Thank God it’s Monday’ takes a look at why Monday IS the best day of the week. ‘Clams ...

Pump up the Valuum.
Nice name. So what of the tracks? Well to be honest, there is a huge variety in the quality of the tracks. NoFx are a talented band who shy away from media interest and despite not having the fame they deserve, they enjoy a loyal following from their many fans. This isn't pop-punk, its not punk-ska, its not punk rock.... this is punk and punk through and through. Loud, brash guitars riffs laden over simple but effective tried ... ...there are more reflective moments including a nice song with the line "mum and dad, howd u get so rad, when exactly did u get so hip?" ... hmmmm interesting! The last track is "Theme from a NOFX album" and i like this a lot. Its a 3 chord stroll through a NOFX pissabout with A, D and E being the obvious 3 chords. There is a nice, simple but outrageous guitar solo in this when it changes from a stroll to an uptempo glam-punk crescendo. Every band ...
