It would be a few albums later until Roger Finally got what he wanted. The albums front cover features Freddie Mercury standing under a beam of light, and the bands name in the top right hand corner, the album consists of 10 songs, each with a very different sound to them. despite some rather odd wailing at the start this trackis a true gem. The way the harmonie are arranged is a demonstration of how groundbreaking Queen were at the time this was recorded. Check out the layering during the lyrics "he rules the air and turns the tides, he guides the winds" It's really really quite beautiful. Roger does a great job on screaming in the record. Truly awesome.
... ...what was to come on Queen II. It's quite a good teaser. I think after listening to that i would want to buy the next album!
Overall Queen I probably isn't the best buy if you're new to Queen but if you're starting to get in to them then it's a weel worth purchase. I think it's such a great album. Sure it isn't as good as others such as Queen II and A Night at the Opera but it's a definite must have for any queen fans collection. ...

Advantages: Good guitar and original Queen Disadvantages: Inconsistent at times
Queen emerged in 1973 with their first album, Queen. Prior to this albums release, Queen released a single, "Keep Yourself Alive", also containing "Son and Daughter". In my opinion, this was Queen at their best, For it was during the 70's that Queen were a heavy band.
Most noticeably, they have NO songs from the Greatest Hits, however, do not be put off, Queen were at a stage in their career, where they produced less hits. The best songs on this ... ...we all know better on Queen II.
The album starts off well with "Keep Yourself Alive". This song has great guitar throughout, and is probably the best track on the album. Brian May shows just why he is regarded as one of the best guitarist's of all time.
The next song, "Doing Alright" is not so good. a gentle song, and a much lighter one to the other tracks on this album. this song is closer to pop, and in my opinion never really gets going.

Advantages: An EXCELLENT musical experience Disadvantages: NONE
...signature sound of the earlier Queen material. It makes the song unique!! They also featured Roger's screeching on "In the Lap of the Gods", "Ogre Battle", and "39". I wouldn't want to hear these songs without the famous high pitched Roger-isms. They're an integral part of the experience!! Brian May's guitar work/songwriting on this LP is sheer perfection along with Freddie's vocals, instrumentation and songwriting.

Advantages: This album show tha band and the very beginning Disadvantages: The albums did not produce any main stream hits.
Queen is the debut album the band Queen. It was released in July 1973 and was the building blocks of for what was to come. It was recorded at Trident Studios and De Lane Lea Music Centre, London. De Lane Lea Music Centre was a brand new recording studio and Queen were asks to try it out to make sure it was all set for the big bands of the time. This was a massive break for Queen as recording time was not cheap. The album was influenced by the hard ... ...their multi-tracking effects (Something that Queen used for a lot of albums) as synthesizers. Also John Deacon was named as "Deacon John" on the album as the band through it would make him sound more interesting. (O well) I love this album (as I do will all queen albums) but this is the one that started it all. The vocals were raw by a very flamboyant Freddie and the guitar was welded by a talented and different axe man Brian. Keep Yourself Alive ...

...in the Top 5 best Queen albums. There is heavy use of piano and Brian's guitar. Highly recommended.
