Advantages: Stunning innovative guitar riffs and confrontational vocals Disadvantages: Hard to think of one, but not an album for everyone
In the early 90s innovative guitarist Tom Morello left his band 'Lock Up' and went in search of members for new band. After seeing rapper Zach de la Rocha playing a club he also enlisted drummer Brad Wilk and childhood friend Tim Commerford on bass. Calling themselves 'Inside Out' they put together they put together some demo tracks that would later evolve into the self-titled 'Rage Against the Machine'. Released in 1992 the album is renowned for it's high production values (some audiophile sites use tracks, in particular, 'Take the Power Back' to test speakers and amplifiers), original guitar techniques and it's hard line stance on political issues (covering social justice and equality). It was produced by Garth 'GGGarth' Richardson who has also worked with L7, Kerbdog, The Melvins, Rise Against and Skunk ...

Advantages: Lots of bangers Disadvantages: A couple of tunes are slightly weaker than the rest
Rage Against The Machine brought their eponymous debut in 1992. It finds the Metal band, who are heavily rooted in the Funk and Rap-based material coming to bring their alternative material and bringing about rather significant changes as they took on from what only a few others had previously done to make for their alternative Metal work. The band, as would remain unchanged through their span, consisted of Zack De La Rocha (on lead vocals), Tim ... ...(on drums). 1. “Bombtrack” Kicking things off with something heavy, you see that this one gets underway in a strong way with Morello bringing a cold riff that has him bringing in a little Hard Rock into the mix with a bit of a Funk twist to give it a little more originality within it. It features the typical rapped vocals from their lead vocalist, who comes out with rhymes about inequalities within society that make for a killer of a joint to get ...

...any debate in my view- Rage Against The Machine. And the best album was probably their very first back in 1992 titled simply 'Rage Against The Machine' -it's genius. From the outset this is an utterly divine and classic album. Here we see a new act, one fresh and pumped with energy. Only teen pleasing desperate ... ...you who are new to Rage and hard rock should start with this track and pick up as you go along. This is one of the typical Rage style songs. Starts of with a haunting slow and melodic note, almost gives you a feel of Love song or a ballad. But the sound shoots out with a heavy riff. The subject matter is haunting too. It is about the lower end or poor of the society element who never get a chance to succeed. So Zack screams out a militant response ...

...way back in 1992, with Rage Against The Machine's self-titled debut album, "Rage Against The Machine". With the metal riffs, rapping vocals and experimental use of instruments, Rage Against The Machine started it all. Don't listen to any other teenager, KoRn created a weak expansion of this great genre, they did nothing in any aid of creating it, Rage did. They did it all. Zack De La Rocha, the only rapper I will go down in history as saying I like, ... ...provide the riffs that make Rage "metal"), have created a full-on excellent, and legendary album. It doesn't just have a few highlights with the rest being filler, it's all classic Nu-metal, every little nut and cranny of every song is filled with the Rage attitude that makes them so popular. Here's just a brief summary of the tracks on the album.
Bombtrack, where the rapping is perhaps most evident is a superb start to the album, with a familiar ...

...top of a shelf lies Rage Against The Machine's self titled debut album, staring me in the face, just asking to be played. The huge fire on the front of the album, covering a rather calm looking monk, just intices further. To say this was the best album of the 90's, is no understatement.

I started listening to Rage around 6 years ago, when I was to young to understand their political views, but still I cannot agree with them. I can't stand here and say I agree with their views and then listen to Pantera and say I agree with their views, because that would be a huge contradiction.
Anyway enough rambling and assorted bollocks from me, lets get onto the album itself. The album was first released a whole 10 years ago in the year ...

Rage was one of the first bands to speak their minds in such a way and had frequent run-ins with the US congress about their songs. One of their best and most famous of these, "wake up", is a prime example of Zack De La Rocha "telling it how it is"- or how it seems to be to him. He uses excellent rhyming techniques commenting mainly on the American justice system; corrupt law enforcements and controversial issues like assassinations ... ...know they went after King when he spoke out on Vietnam" and "networks at work keeping people calm, you know they murdered X and tried to blame it on Islam".

Rage Against the Machine – the Eponymous album. The band ‘Rage Against the Machine’ formed in 1989, they are old. Yes. So, they played a few early songs on some redneck Yankee stages, and the record companies became interested in Zack de la Rocha and the crew. They then, of course, went on to make this album. They started off with a cover.

Advantages: Slice 'o classic, kick ass rock. Disadvantages: If you don't like rock, this aint gonna change your mind
Rage against the machines first album, the self titled R.A.T.M, is known is some circles as a modern classic, and I heartily agree. In my opinion, the 90's were at a loss as regards rock music. Britpop hadn't really kicked off yet, the stratospheric rise of Nirvana had unfortunately killed off the rest of the grunge genre and eventually their frontman too, and even worse, manufactured pop was really doing quite well.
Thank god for RATM, I say. Praise ... ...audacity and power to get out there and cause some ripples.
As soon as I put this CD in, and listened to the start of Bombtrack, I knew something great was here. The riff kicked in, and I was in love. For anyone who grew up listening to their parents vinlys of Hendrix, Cream, Sabbath and that whole blues-rock genre will love this album because of the way it takes the blues-rock DNA and splices it with genes from the funk, rap and metal genres. This is one seriously great album. As a guitarist I love Tom Morello's style- from his inventive stuff ("Bullet in the Head") to more traditional style (Solo on "Freedom"). Zack's vocals are very emotive and suit their political message wonderfully.
