Advantages: Original Disadvantages: A few weaker tracks
"The Red Hot Chili Peppers" was the eponymous, self-entitled release which came out in 1984. It has the LA band come together to produce an album to display their immediate influences in the music world. You must take all cultural context into account as you get the group, led by Anthony Kiedis as they do some Funk Rock. Kiedis raps much of it, and is backed by Flea on the the bass, Cliff Martinez guitaring and Jack Sherman on the percussion. 1. ... ...to the album, and also the first single to be released by them. Personally, I don't see how it managed to draw people in because I think it is a pretty weak one, and it doens't really represent their Funk influences well enough to really take enough notice as something that different from what was aroudn at the time. **Two Stars** 2.
