Advantages: Some say their finest hour Disadvantages: There's only 8 tracks
Ride the Lightning is Metallica's follow-up to their debut album, 'Kill 'Em All' and while not as raw as the first, this is hardcore, head-banging, thrash-metal at its best. The band would go onto refine their sound in later albums, some would say water-down, but this early showing is full of in-your-face energy, grit and perhaps surprising to some, sheer musical brilliance. In this reviewers opinion, it's also among their best work.
The Metallica ...

Advantages: The perfect heavy metal album Disadvantages: I'm afraid I can't think of any
...I have to say that Ride the Lightning is undoubtedly the best Metallica album out there.
There are many reasons for this. This album might have only reached 100 on the charts, but this album contained everything that a punk rock album needs. James Hetfield is consistent as the rhythm guitarist, always providing the riffs while Kirk Hammett, Metallica's lead guitarist, provides the amazing guitar solos (mroe detail when I describe the songs). Cliff ...

Advantages: Amazing songs, good vocals, one the their best albums Disadvantages: none
Metallica's second album 'Ride The Lightning' showed that Metallica where here to stay for the long run. The album still has the band's original thrashy feel about it, but there's a new blend of heavyness to this album also.
Fight Fire With Fire (4.44) The classical rhythm to start us off, is beautifully written and is well made to fit for an intro to song. It was the calm before the storm, you realize, once the heavy punding riffing crashes in. ...

Advantages: Seminal, powerful melodic metal album. Disadvantages: kinda short (only 39 minutes long).
This is the second album by that little-known beat combo known as “Metallica”. This is from a period of time (around about 1984) when they kept their excursions into blues and country safely within the confines of their bedrooms, and were happy, instead to fashion some of the most ground breaking metal around. The fact that this album has managed to retain its power some 17 years after it was initially recorded is a testament to its quality.

Signs of genius Review ofRide The Lightning - Metallicaby
yhwman
Advantages: Early enough to be interesting to fans of the later material and yet still good songs Disadvantages: Trapped under ice, whoops.
...Under Ice made it onto Ride the Lightning. Anyway, Call of Ktulu is again, an epic song, this time though James gives his voice a rest is a stunning piece just short of nine minutes. Why don’t ‘tallica still do these fantastic, epic instrumentals anymore? Overall it’s not quite a classic but well worth having. ...

Advantages: For Whom the Bell Tolls Disadvantages: Trapped Under Ice
Death. The album is all about death. Metallica’s second album shows a sudden change in musical ability - this album rules. It starts off with ‘Fight Fire With Fire’ a great fast heavy track. ‘Ride the Lightning’ is another classic song which serves as a changeover between the average, heavy opener, and the best Metallica song ever… ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’. Track 3 boasts the best intro done by Metallica, ...

Master piece Review ofRide The Lightning - Metallicaby

Advantages: Excellant Disadvantages: None
A superb follow up to their debut album. the album is more focussed on moldies, not just the loud and fast guitars, although the guitars are still loud and fast. the songs are very intelligantly written lyricly, the song "Creeping Death" is about the tenth plague of egypt, the death of the first born. then there is other themes to the rest of the songssuch as drowning for the song "trapped under Ice", a nuclear holocaust for the song "Fight Fire With ...

Advantages: Every Song Is Great Disadvantages: its a bit short
This is the second metallica album. This is the album that proves that metallica are excellent, their song quality is amazing and that "kill 'em all" wasnt an accident and they have the ability to produce another groundbreaking album. This album sets a sign of things to come, with masterpieces such as: "creeping death", the powerful "fade to black" and the brilliant title track "ride the lightning" the lyrics to this song make you think. this album ...

Advantages: Better sound quality... & het's not as high pitched Disadvantages: het's still too high pitched!.. and the recording qualiy is still not brilliant..
Ride The Lightning is certanly by far my favorate of the old school 'tallica albums... kicking off with the deceptivly slow sounding fight fire with fire.... through to the amazing title song... then the equally amazing For Whom The Bell Tolls....
nothing is perfect tho.... there are a couple of weaker song on the album... the likes of Escape & Trapped Under Ice... but even they are good. The studio recording quality is still not up to the standard ...

Advantages: The list is endless Disadvantages: None that I know of
This album has become a keystone for the thrash metal scene. It is arguable that if this album had never been written then there would have been very little in the way of thrash now.
Metallica had finally found a sound that really worked very well for them. The guitar parts were also very tight yet the riffs were still inventive. The Call of Ktulu was one of Metallica's best songs and has shown that Metallica's metal is very classicaly based after ...

Advantages: Great thoughtful lyrics, great beat and tune wonderful Disadvantages: Not as amazing as MASTER OF PUPPETS
...It thens moves on to Ride the lightning which is the best song and the bulk of the album really striking hard with thoughtful lyrics. it then moves on to Whom The Bell Tolls then onto the slower quieter Fade to black. It then has the slightly dissappointing Trapped Under Ice but comes back with the fast furious Escape. It then has the wonderful Creeping Death and finishes off with the instrumental Call of the Ktulu. Not as good as Master Of Puppets ...

Advantages: Metallica's best album Disadvantages: Few tracks are too much like Kill Em All
...fans favourite albums are either Ride The Lightning or Master of Puppets. Mine is Ride The Lightning.
Ride The Lightning is Metallica's 2nd album after the pretty average Kill Em All. Metallica were still young, but with experience behind them. They had nothing to live up too and everything to play for.
The album is relatively short but then the short albums are always the best, no fillers just pure heavy metal. The album also has an underlying ...

Advantages: Cliff Burton, Mustaines influences, fantastic metal album Disadvantages: what disadvantages
This album is mind blowingly brilliant, infact a must own for anyone that is alive and kicking.
This was also metallica at there finest, (master of puppets was alright and kill em' all was ok). Even though dave mustaine was kicked out before even kill em' all was released his influence still reigns through onto this brilliant album. Not only that, but this features hammett at his best and the prodigal child cliff burton (god bless his soul) one ...
