Advantages: Great lyrics, beautiful voice, great album Disadvantages: None what so ever
...£1million contract his debut album Right Now was automatically added to my basket whilst doing my weekly shopping. The airwaves have been full of Leona Lewis and her success is actually rather impressive, especially as she has managed to do so well in America. Now as the furore has died down a little, the album is released and I have to say it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Leon had stated on numerous occasions on the X-factor that he loved Jazz ... ...The CD which is titled Right Now was released in the United Kingdom on October 20th 2008. There are thirteen tracks in total on the album, the thirteenth track is a bonus track called When You Believe which was sung by all four finalists on X-Factor.

Advantages: One or two decent tracks if you can withstand the vocal Disadvantages: Has all the passion of R2D2
...lyrics. Yes, I can see right through you to a place where it is written in stone "I am an outstanding mediocrity". Song number 9 is called "Fingerprints" - a slow beat with piano notes and voice dominating and get ready for some cheesy lyrics: "I gotta go soon as the sun says hello, Goodbye the moon, So baby all I wanna do is leave my fingerprints on you". Yeah… and wash your hands first. Don't like his voice on this, it's like the sound of a ball ... ...next track "Could Do Better" is slightly more up tempo with some neatly layered movie-score type strings in the background. An improvement on the previous and one of the better produced tracks. But again the total lack of fervour in the vocals makes it another ordinary song.
Track 11 is a cover of "Misty Blue" - a song that was originally made popular by jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald in 1967. It starts off nicely with some pleasant twangy electric ...

As I am not a true Leon Jackson fan, I feel it would be unfair for me to rate either track individually as I would under normal circumstances. What I can do is offer up an honest opinion as ... ...'Don't Call This Love' was the first track to be released from the album, and although it was good to see an X-Factor winner returning to the industry, I was surprised by just how black and white they had made him. The track had such little success, it was even outsold by Peter Kay's spoof record and fell out of the charts from there. Not a good omen. This is the first single to be released off the album. It doesn't start off brilliantly , but it gets a bit better and you think it's going to be good but then it goes back to been poor again. ... ...music that's in the charts right now , although I can't help feel that he is trying to be like Michael Buble. Although I didn't mind listening to it the once , it's not an album I feel I could listen to on a regular basis as some of the songs are to plain and too same-y. It isn't very entertaining and doesn't match the type of music i listen to.
If I'm honest I think the only reason he is doing is so well is based purely on his looks (young girls ...

Leon Jackson looks good but that's about all I could say about him. He's a clean cut young man with a decent voice but I never thought he had that bit extra that goes to make star. He got enough votes to win the X Factor but it seems that he has few fans out there. Everyone I know rates him as mediocre at best. However, this is a review of the album 'Right Now', not of Leon Jackson himself, or the working of the X Factor competition.
He is a mixture ... ...and Michael Buble when he sings. I would never have paid good money out for this mediocre album and I have only listened to it because a friend bought it and hated it so much so passed it on to me. I wouldn't say that I hated it. After all, 'what's not to like?' Most of the track on 'Right Now' would be better under the combined heading of 'not now' because they are so out of date style wise and have nothing original about them.

The UK bonus track is Leon's debut single which was Christmas number one in 2007. I think it should have been one of the first songs on the album rather than a bonus track as it was a big hit for him and should have been the focal point of the track list.
The album is ... ...a song in it's own right but I do not like his version of it in the slightest and personally I think he ruined what was a good song. This however is a risk taken with many cover songs, some people manage to do a better (or equal) job and others don't. Leon Jackson is one of those that didn't manage to do a good job of covering the song and it is a bit of a let down. I also thought that the cover art was boring and unappealing, it would not influence ...

...name of the Album is Right Now. It debuted at number 4 on the Uk Album Chart and has sold over 75,000 copies.
The cover of the album is quite sophisticated. There is a great photo of Leon, making him look mature. He is wearing a black suit, white shirt and a trendy black tie. The cover is a grey colour and isnt overloaded with information. It has has the words Right now which are in black lettering, Leon which is large and bold in white lettering ... ...All In Good Time

Another cover, a slow track witch is maybe a little weak.
7 Ordinary Days The slow type song again but he sings this one a lot better.

10 Could do better I like this one, good pace to the song and he sounds good.

A cover witch keeps its originality to it, a good sound and he sings it well.

A good cover that is a easy listen song. I don't like it when you get that many covers on one album but he does sing a few quite well, its an album that probably wont sell to a wide spread audience but then if you like the jazzy sound with a young fresh singer then this is your thing. ...declare I am a fan right from the start but I am not a teen or Scottish and I am surprised by my interest in this young singer he's not usually the stuff I listen to although I don't mind Michael Buble.
Don't Call This Love - The first single made it to number 3 on the UK charts a song I like but will admit it took a few listens in hind sight was a poor choice for the lead single.
Creative - This should have been the first single why it wasn't ... ...Syco know the answer too.
Could do Better - Fab song that could do well on a Bond film.
Other good tracks Stargazing, Fingerprints, Caledonia and Song for You.
The album does contain some covers including A Song For You - whilst I feel the vocal on this song is superb I honestly believe the content is too old for a 19yr old to sing with real conviction.
Personally I would have preferred When You Believe not included and the single B-Side Don't ...

WHO - I was just glad he had his name on the front cover!! I struggled to listen to the rest of the album after I had heard the first song. Sorry Leon but it was not worth me brandishing my library card and paying the hire fee. I could as for a refund, but thinking back to the smirk of the assistants face, I know now that she has already listened to it - I will not forgive her SHE COULD HAVE ISSUED IT WITH A WARNING!

very good album. he sung every song with feeling and you could tell he meant everyword. its a very good gift for al those x factor fans and to everyone else but wont be to everyones taste depends on the genre they listen to. i have alsways enjoyed music similar to this its easy listening and you dont feel you have to get up and boogie. nice to sit and listen with a glass of wine and relax. you will just need to listen to this album and i guarantee ...

Advantages: Soulful and swing music combined Disadvantages: His version of Misty Blue is not good, Dorothy Moore does it better
Leon's soulfull voice relaxes and moves me. He has everything on this album from sad songs, to foot tapping swing music with 'Creative'. It doesn't matter what mood you are in, this album will suit you down to the ground, from feeling blue, wanting good background music, or wanting to dance along to it, the album meets all your needs. Not sure about his version of Misty Blue as I prefer the original version by Dorothy Moore, but the rest of the album ...
