I've been quite a big fan of paramore for well over a year, before the whole supposed 'emo' craze was about and personally they're more rock/pop than 'emo'. I think that they should be encouraged as a rock band especially as there are not enough female singers around in that genre of music. Just because hayley's a girl and tends to write more meaningful songs doesn't necessarily mean they should be classed as that. Anyway! Now thats off my chest... ...

I got this album after listening to misery business and loving what i heard. It has lots of different elements that work well together. The band have finally found their niche for their album. Their last album was too mixed and i found myself getting bored very easily. On this album there are 11 very powerful songs. For a pessimist I'm pretty optimistic opens the album to loud funky guitars that don't sound pessimistic at all. That's what you get ...

Although some describe Paramore as emo, I don't find this in any of their music. The stereotypical sounds that you hear in emo music and bands cannot be heard in their up-beat style. I would describe them more as modern day rock rathern than through them in the popular categories of either indie or emo. The debut album for paramore "All we know is falling" fell between "pop" and "emo", and set the band up to be very successful and a great example to both genre's aswell as creating a new genre. In light of this success "Riot" was eagerly awaited, and didn't impress to the same degree, where it attempted to have the same impact it fell just short. This album doesn't have the same sound as the last- and appears to have something missing, this is beginning ...
...in popularity. The songs: When it rains- a slow song, which comes off a bit cheesey, but is great to sing in the car too - power balladesque! Misery Business- a personal fabourite on this album. This is a great follow up album to All We Know Is Falling. It has a much more mature sound and it is obvious that the band as a whole have progressed both in their experiences and their music. This album definately falls into the category of pop-rock as oppose to "emo". A good micture of up- tempo and up-beat songs with slower, more poignant melodies. Favourite song has to be We Are Broken- beautiful lyrics, beautiful voice, beautiful sound. Least ...
...it is a bit too comercial for me and I played it too much. A brilliant album for all moods and occassions and any fan will love it. With four single releases, form the second studio album, Riot! in my opinion has been a great sucess since its release in June 2007. With 11 tracks it runs for a fantastic emotion filled 38:47, it was given 5/10 by NME but i would give it at least an 8! Hayley Williams voice is astounding and makes this CD an essential to me, and to anyone who likes a wide range of track paces performed with brilliance and lyrics that can appeal to anyone, it really does become a rocking out sing along essential! ...
