...lad of only 18!
Room on the Third floor is the title track of the album, and it is one of my favourites as it is a more mellow song and has a more mature sound, it also has a very heavy Beatles influence with the middle section which has a lot of Na Na Na Na‘s. This song was written about the hotel room Tom and Danny first stayed in when they went to London, and funnily enough it was on the third floor! The song is basically about keeping ... ...“One bed is broken, next room is smoking, and air conditioning is stuck on heat.” The lyrics in all of Mcfly's songs you can relate to as they are very realistic and said how “normal” people would say them. The drums become more prominent for the second verse where gravely voiced Danny starts singing about the housekeeping. The song begins to build with the drums and guitar becoming more prominent until the rousing finale ...

Advantages: A strong first album from the band Disadvantages: Similarities to other bands may for some detract from the overall listening experience
After the success of Busted in 2003, McFly emerged with a number one single in the form of '5 Colours In Her Hair' early in 2004. Busted had paved the way for similar bands to make a success of themselves and McFly took full advantage of this fact - or rather Universal Island Records did. Busted, McFly, and V were all a part of the same scene, and in fact Busted were used as the basis to launch the careers of McFly and V through having these two ... ...of the band V was short-lived, and with Busted having split up early in 2005; McFly remain to be the only of the three bands still going today.
'Room on the 3rd Floor' was McFly's début album and is certified 2x Platinum in the UK having shifted over 600 000 copies. The album kicks off with first single '5 Colours In Her Hair', a track which is arguably the strongest from the album. The track opens the album well and although exceedingly cheesy ...

Advantages: Fun, happy songs, orginal, cute. Disadvantages: some songs are a bit weaker
...it 9/10.
Track 3: Room on the Third Floor. This has a slower tempo than the other two. It’s about staying in a dingy hotel room. Danny and Tom stayed on the third floor at the London Inter-Continental when they were writing some songs (I believe it was room 363) and this is where this song was inspired. The chorus contains a sing along Hey Jude Beatles-style "naah naah naah" chant, which works quite well. The song is all about keeping ‘your feet ... ...I wrote it in my room at college when I was sixteen years old – I was bored and depressed, and I was travelling to and from London all the time to see Tom, and I didn’t know where everything was heading. But at the same time, because I’m Catholic, I did feel that I wasn’t alone. It sounds cheesy but this song is a bit of me. Some of my influences are in there – like Bruce Springsteen – and I think it represents what I personally bring to the band.”

Advantages: Catchy tunes Disadvantages: Repetitive tunes that sound like The Monkeys or Busted
...track is the title track Room On The Third Floor. The song begins with a serious sounding intro, again showing the possibility of talent. The song develops into a simple ballad but is spoiled by many repetitions of nah nah nah nah. That Girl starts with a Monkeys style intro and doesn't really recover. The song describes That Girl while friends remain sceptical, but they were all stunned when 'I got that girl'. The lyrics are detailed but simple ... ...up nicely. Hwever after the interlude That Girl was with another guy. Track five is entitled Hypnotised and sounds like a heart felt melody. It has a country feel which is surprisingly enjoyable and sung well by the band. The lyrics give the song a ballad like quality. This may possibily be the best song on the album, the lyrics and melody fit very well together which is a rather rare occurrence with this band. Saturday Night is a definite Monkeys ...

...on their experiences sharing a room in a hotel in the days before McFly this song definitely stands out on the album due to its complete individuality. It is a nice change becasue it is not about girls and so then gives the ablum much more depth and variety.
Next up is That Girl which is most definitely one of the best tracks on the album, as well as Saturday Night it is a very electric guitar based song and lets the guitar explore into amazing ... ...vibe to it, which like Room on the 3rd Floor gives a nice change in direction, music wise. For me, the most stand out, and brilliant track, on the album is Not Alone. This track is much edgier and darker than the rest of the album. It hits on a real life issue of feeling alone and isolated which many people can relate to and so instantly attracts you to the song. Danny's voice is outstanding on this track, also written by the boy himself, you can ...

Advantages: If you dont have daughters 12 or under you'll never hear them Disadvantages: Some people have daughters 12 years or younger that listen to them. meaning we have to subjected to them on the radio and some idoits telling us their brilliant.
Busted the sequel it seems. A cross between something horrible from the 60's and busted were thrown together,(forcefully) until they created McFly. Same manager from busted put them together and then one of them failed the busted auditions.
Now we must be subjected to their album. ...to it straight away. The Room on the Third Floor album is good but not my favourite. They are not very original a bit Bustedy and Beach Boyey may sound good to some people but may be aweful in reality.
All The Songs are about girls all being to good for them. a couple of the tracks sound countryish and most of it is not to my taste at all.
The Tracks on The CD are : Five Colours in her Hair, Obviously, That Girl, Room on the Third Floor, She Left ... ...By The Lake and Unsaid things. They have recently been branded as Surfer Rock a brand new genre of music, onw thing I will say is the McFly boys make a good chorus but spoil there songs by going " do do do do do , doo do do do do do , doo " and " naa nana naa nanananaaaa " to often.
The McFly fad seems to have died down now with the first two singles Five Colours in Her Hair and Obviously rocketing up to number 1 in the charts. The Third single ...

...Writing
Mcfly's debut album Room on the third floor was written by Danny, Tom and Busted's James. Harry and Dougie cannot write Lyrics. James is exceptional at writing lyrics. Nearly all of Busted song's are original and all written by James. Busted's Matt can also write lyrics but leaves it to James mostly.

Right first there was busted..a pop band trying to hard to be a rock act, then they split as the lead singer wanted to join a band that was actually a rock band!!, so now the new Mcfly come to town..known as the busted twins!...and please shouting "STOP STOP not more!".....but hey don't take into sterotypical views untill u actually listen to the album your-self (well apart from my review!)...to be honest im not a pop fan, not really a propper rock ... ...views.
Often artists are getting slated because well they arent propper artists, they dont play own intruments, they dont write their own songs..and hey they dont even sing live, but here we have a boy band consisting of Tom, Danny, Harry and Dougie that do all these things, and people still tend to ride them off...ok i no they are poppy songs, but the album is pretty decent for a pop/rock band.
Mcflys sound on this album is often a 60's beach ...

Advantages: You will be singing songs from this album for months to come. Disadvantages: They used some of their album songs as B sides on their singles, which seemed a little unfair.
I am naturally a fan of Mcfly's work (what 18 year old girl could resist these four cheeky guys). After seeing them live at the Busted tour in early spring I was eagerly anticipating their debut album. To be honest, I was prefectly shocked when I found that most of my friends at college had bought this album before I had and were praising it so highly. That's when i knew that this album would not be coping the likes of Busted, who my friends hate ... ...up tempo melodies with slow reflective songs. I can see the heavy influence of the 60's pop legends, ranging from The Beatles to The Beach Boys. My favourite songs were 'That Girl' and 'Surfer Babe', which would definitely get any party in full swing with their 60's surfer guitar rifts. Mcfly also show their softer side with such songs as 'She left me' and 'Not alone', which shows that these boys can not only get you dancing but they can pull at ...
