S&M - Metallica

When I heard for the first time that Metallica starts working on the classic album I thought "Wow, cool! It might be the best 'metal-simphonic' album ever made!". And now I've listened to it... It's sad (but true, he-he). The album is WEAK. I mean, it's weak for Metallica. The only song that really sounds great, I think, is "Until It Sleeps", the others sound much worse then before :( As for me - they've lost the rage and power of 'metal' versions ...
...plays somewhere in background and is not a real 'fifth instrument' of compositions. I heard some albums recorded by metal bands with orchestras which sounded much more interesting. Generally - I think I will not ever have a will to listen to this album for the second time. It's sad. ...

This is a Metallica album I never thought of getting, I was wrong I am glad to say! This album rocks, but some of the songs are VERY much like all James Bond themes, have another listen if you have it, i promise you'll giggle! I managed to get this CD for 14.55 from BorrowOrRob and they delivered within 3 days, not bad either (i'll stop digressing in a minute!) It just seems so right that the 'Monsters of Wrock' have done this album, it sound absolutely ...
...and the crowd starts singing it's absolutely great! 2 CD's packed with greats from 'Of wolf and man' to 'Fuel' 'Nothing else matters' to 'One' and 'Enter Sandman' which is a classic. It is often said that surroundings and situations can alter your perception of music and this was the case with S&M. I asked a freind to record the album without hearing it first as I had always liked Metallica's style and thay are by far the biggest thing in Metal. S&M is a groundbreaking album, no band has ever tried working with an orchestra on this scale before and the results are incredible. As shown on the DVD documentary it was an experiment and nobody was sure how it would go till the night of the performance. The album has a good variety of songs from ride the lightning through to re-load, from old classics such as master of puppets and One through to newer songs like Hero of the day and memory remains. ...
...for everyone on this album, tunes like "the thing that should not be" and "for whom the bell tolls" for the old school fans, "enter sandman" and "fuel" for the more commercial fans or epic ballads like "outlaw torn" and "bleeding me" for the fans of metallicas slower side.
