Advantages: When you read this you will know more about the Scissor sisters. Disadvantages: None because its great!
I bought the Scissor Sisters self titled album recently and can’t stop playing it. After listening to the album for a few weeks now I have finally decided upon my favourite songs. I love Filthy/Gorgious, It can't come quickly enough, Return to Oz, Laura and Take Your Mama (Ihave fallen in love with the video.)
In my opinion the Scissor Sisters will appeal to a broad age group and people with varied music tastes. There is something in this CD for ...

...in these Isles as The Scissor Sisters, a high-camp act with flamboyance and flair flailing from their fingertips. They make dance-pop, disco and electro music which retains a strong dancehall vibe that enables it to be a hit on both sides of the BBC radio networks. Radio 2 broke the band, but Radio 1 also play their music. Heck, you can hear them on Doctor Who, for Whedon's sake! (albeit on the completely sucky season finale, but still). They're mainstream ...

So – the Scissor Sisters. Part of me thinks, “Why am I writing this?”. At this stage, everyone knows everything about them. They’ve taken the UK by storm, and the album reached the prestigious Number 1 spot earlier this summer (at the time of writing, they are still somewhere in the Top 10)
Now, I’m going ...

...idea why I like the Scissor Sisters. I just do. There’s no rational explanation for my feeling this way, it just happened. Generally, it’s not often I find myself in agreement with the music press. Generally in the last few years, I’ve found disliking bands that music magazines have heaped praise upon. I’ve never been entirely sure whether it’s me that’s out of touch, or them.
I have frequently, if sporadically, enjoyed the Scissor Sisters, though. ...

POP WITH A TWIST Review ofScissor Sisters - Scissor Sistersby

Advantages: Brilliant songs, a near perfect debut album Disadvantages: In danger of being over-exposed?
...so let's run with it). Scissor Sisters (the name coming from a euphemism for a sexual act for lesbians) consist of Jake Shears (vocals), Ana Matronic (vocals), Babydaddy (guitars/keyboards), Del Marquis (guitar) and Paddy Boom (drums). And they look an exciting, if a little odd, prospect, reinforced by their delectable names.
Scissor Sisters have combined classic pop, disco, new wave, old fashioned rock 'n' roll, ballads and glam rock footstompers ...

Advantages: Unique, funky tracks! Disadvantages: Some songs end suddenly!!
The Scissor Sisters are a fairly new band, but already they're becoming very popular. Their style is very original and unique. This will hopefully shine through and they should become the next biggest band in todays music industry. They have released many hit singles, like: Mary, Laura, Take Your Mama, Comfortably Numb and Filthy/Gorgeous, which are all included in this fantastic album. ''This is the Scissor Sister's first Greatest Hits collection'', ...

At this point, I thought they were a bit daft to be honest! A high pitched bloke and a few strangely attired additional persons singing slightly unusual lyrics.
We'd heard Laura, and since, Comfortably Numb.
Listening to Mercia FM all day in the office, you get to hear the new releases again, and again, and then a few more times. Every time I’ve heard a Scissor ...

...purchased the album by the Scissor Sisters. Now when I purchased this I had only heard Laura, Comfortably Numb and Take your Mama. So the other songs, being slightly different were a nice surprise for me.
For example the song Return to Oz reminds me so much of David Bowie’s music, which I also love. For me this album re-kindled old flames and brought back good memories, by the style and choice of music.

Cut to the music Review ofScissor Sisters - Scissor Sistersby

Advantages: Different styles, great vocals, eclectic mix of tracks Disadvantages: Some weak tracks
I first heard of the scissor sisters when Mark & Lard on radio 1 played their track 'Laura' to death earlier on this year. Eventually, despite not thinking a lot of it at the start, it got inside my head, and I actually did start to like them.
The scissor sisters hail from New York and are the latest in that somewhat wave of alternative bands with their rots deep in the 70's with a modern twist.
The album starts with the track mentioned above ...

...course the group in question Scissor Sisters…
I first heard Comfortably numb (originally a Pink Floyd track) on the Joe Wiley session on Radio 1 and I was awe struck! I should have been horrified to what they did to ‘Floyds song, but Scissor Sisters didn’t just cover it they reinvented it and made it well – Dancey! (Yes I know Dancey isn’t a word!). So here we have it a mellow 70’s tune revamped and electrified! They made this psychedelic song ...

Music Is The Victim is another Eltons 70's like stomper! Yet again we love it! Its not a standout track as the others are soooo superb but its bloomin good. I like the hint of Glam Rock that kinda simmers in the background! Yes, yes, yes!

Advantages: fun songs that you will be humming for weeks Disadvantages: never going to be the coolest or most original band
When I first heard the Scissor Sisters, I was suitably impressed. However, I did not find out their name until about two weeks later. The song was Comfortably Numb, a cover of a Pink Floyd song. Upon finding this out I went to my dad's record collection and played the original. Once I had heard that I realised the Scissor Sisters had more to them than just one track, the cover was far better than the original.

Advantages: It's original, catchy and is the in-thing just now. Disadvantages: The high pitched vocals may get on your nerves.
The NY quintet have been described as the coolest thing to hit the music scene for a while. And they're certainly not overrated, as I discovered. I have a taste that covers a lot of genres but I never dreamed I would be into a band like this - it was an impulse buy and it took my a few days to bother giving it a spin. I'm glad I did - from start to finish, it is a musical masterpiece.

The Scissor Sisters have come out of no where, and have 'cut' their way into my musical life. This album really has to be heard to be believed, because to quote Avid Merrion "I dont know what they are!"
The vocals, the lyrics, the music; all are completely unique. Iv never head a bloke, aside from Justin Timberlake and his namesake Justin Hawkins of Darkness fame, that can hit those notes, but this man does so much better. Its like all the Bee ...
