Advantages: Covers most musical genres in one album

The Scissor Sisters are a fairly new band, but already they're becoming very popular. Their style is very original and unique. This will hopefully shine through and they should become the next biggest band in todays music industry. ...purchased the album by the Scissor Sisters. Now when I purchased this I had only heard Laura, Comfortably Numb and Take your Mama. So the other songs, being slightly different were a nice surprise for me. For example the song Return to Oz reminds me so much of David Bowie’s music, which I also love. I first heard of the scissor sisters when Mark & Lard on radio 1 played their track 'Laura' to death earlier on this year. Eventually, despite not thinking a lot of it at the start, it got inside my head, and I actually did start to like them. ...course the group in question Scissor Sisters… I first heard Comfortably numb (originally a Pink Floyd track) on the Joe Wiley session on Radio 1 and I was awe struck! I should have been horrified to what they did to ‘Floyds song, but Scissor Sisters didn’t just cover it they reinvented it and made it well – Dancey! (Yes I know Dancey isn’t a word!). ...tents and yet amazingly credible. Scissor Sisters showing they can be as outrageous as we will let them. i love the uncensored video to this too. Its fab that somes up the whole song - FAB! Music Is The Victim is another Eltons 70's like stomper! Yet again we love it! Its not a standout track as the others are soooo superb but its bloomin good. Advantages: fun songs that you will be humming for weeks
Disadvantages: never going to be the coolest or most original band

When I first heard the Scissor Sisters, I was suitably impressed. However, I did not find out their name until about two weeks later. The song was Comfortably Numb, a cover of a Pink Floyd song. Upon finding this out I went to my dad's record collection and played the original. Disadvantages: The high pitched vocals may get on your nerves.

The NY quintet have been described as the coolest thing to hit the music scene for a while. And they're certainly not overrated, as I discovered. I have a taste that covers a lot of genres but I never dreamed I would be into a band like this - it was an impulse buy and it took my a few days to bother giving it a spin. Advantages: Totally original, funky sound, one of those albums that will be remembered simply for its originality
Disadvantages: not all the songs are brilliant, the novelty does not last

The Scissor Sisters have come out of no where, and have 'cut' their way into my musical life. This album really has to be heard to be believed, because to quote Avid Merrion "I dont know what they are!" The vocals, the lyrics, the music; all are completely unique. Iv never head a bloke, aside from Justin Timberlake and his namesake Justin Hawkins of Darkness fame, that can hit those notes, but this man does so much better. Its like all the Bee ... Read review
