...the first of June 1967, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was released onto the world and unsuspecting ears. It was only another few days, and they would be celebrating their fifth anniversary since their first recording session with EMI. The Beatles had always been the fore runners of changing music since 1962, and here they were, again, but , this time, changing music on a global scale, they were to become enormous influences on bands from then ...

...to be a band called Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. This gave the guys a lot of freedom while recording because, as Paul later said, "You could do anything when you got to the mike or on your guitar, because it wasn't you." Although only three songs on the album actually have anything to do with Sgt. Pepper and his band, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is still rock & roll's first "concept album."
The Beatles also experimented with ...

...songs are the following:
1. Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Lennon-McCartney):
It was Paul’s idea to make an album pretending to be a band different from the Beatles, the Lonely Hearts Club Band lead by Mr. Pepper. He had the idea during a flight, and once he reach earth, he called the other members of the band and told them to get into the studios again. The original idea was to make an album with one only track, I mean, different songs ...

...the album at all...
Track 1: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (2.02)
Starting us off is the albums title track. This song brings back fond memories of the Live 8 event a few years ago, as Paul McCartney bursts in song. This is really a good opener - gritty yet refreshing guitars and crowd like sound effects give this track a very 'real' effect.
Marks out of 10: 8.5 - some of the lyrics in the second verse could be seen as a little corny. ...

Advantages: The first album to contain lyrics to the song, ground breaking cover Disadvantages: None
I have many Beatles albums in the house and "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band" is one that holds many fond memories. When I was younger, my parents had an eight track cassette in the car, and this was one of the albums that was played a lot, during our family holidays and days out.
Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was released in 1967, and the cover of the album is instantly recognisable. The four members of The Beatles are dressed in ...

...of the Beatles in their Sgt. Pepper's outfits, and some cut-outs that you can, erm, cut out and use to become the Sarge yourself if you want.
So there you have it. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" in a, rather large, nutshell. Thanks for sticking around to the end of this op. Oh, and if you don't have a copy of this album, don't you think it's about time you did? ...

The first concept album Review ofSgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - Beatles (The)by
scruff
Advantages: Possibly the best album ever Disadvantages: No one can match its quality
Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (S.P.L.H.C.B.) is perhaps the Beatles most famous album. Magazines and books have debated whether it is the greatest album ever written. Whatever your own view is, you cannot deny it is a classic and you probably have a copy of it lurking somewhere. Personally I don’t think it is as good as the Beatles “Revolver” album (hint - read my other review!), because although Sgt. Peppers is a landmark in musical history ...

Advantages: Some great songs Disadvantages: Some twee pop
“Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I’m 64?”
It seemed a far off question in those days when cute old Paulie was asking the question, but these days the boyish good looks have been replaced by the saggy jowels and wrinkles of a very old man, still with that hangdog eye expression, but somehow looking much older than his true age.
Comes to all of us in the end, I’m afraid, but we never really considered that those wild young ...

Advantages: production, experimentation and creativity Disadvantages: not a sitar fan
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was the eighth album released by The Beatles. It was released on 1st June 1967 and it’s 40th anniversary will soon be marked by a covers album recorded by various current recording artists.
The impact this album has had on music over the last 40 years cannot be overstated. Listening to it today it still sounds like it could have been released this year. The production techniques and quality are immense and ...

...them either.
TRACK LISTING:
1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (2:02): The introduction. You can hear the band's loving audience laughing and cheering in the background. The sound is a cross between the regular Beatles' sound mixed with the sound of some sort of army marching band.
2. A little friend of my friends (2:42): The track flows straight on from the last one with just an introduction of "Billy Shears" (who will sing the ...

Advantages: Superb album Disadvantages: None to speak of
...differences emerged more obviously, but Sgt. pepper was the first album where they really let their creativity run wild and ended up producing their most individual, era defining work. Before Paul became an (albeit still superb to listen to) parody of himself, Lennon retreated into his own ego, and Harrison... well he never really wanted to be noticed, did he?
Although, many people point to Revolver as the best Beatles album (and the best album ...

Advantages: Sensational album that redifined pop music, some exceptional songs Disadvantages: Need to have the 12" vinyl for the full effect, Within You Without You ;-)
The reviews here on Ciao are mercifully free of it, but there's an awful lot of pompous nonsense talked about this album. Pick up many music magazines, and you'll be confronted with something along the lines of "Paul's underlying vitriol toward John is indicated by the counterpointing middle eight, compounded by the recrudescence of atonal harmonics as the opus reaches its denouement" (I just made that up, but you get the idea). I think that, because ...

The granddaddy of all concept albums coming out from the band that quite pioneered almost everything in the music industry, opening with its first lines on its title track:
“It was twenty years ago today,
Sgt Pepper’s told the band to play…”
