There was a definite change in style for The Beatles around the time of the release of Sgt Pepper. After visiting India and George Harrison introducing the rest of the band to LSD, they turned on, tuned in but didnt quite drop out. Sgt Pepper was the first album to have full colour gatefold sleeve and was the first to include the lyrics of the songs on the sleeve.
The album seemed to sum up the way the world was feeling at the time. On it's release ... ...was playe don British radio on it's release all the way through without interuption. Producer George Martin, who intorduced the latest recording techniques to the band, was known as the sixth Beatle. All Beatles albums have their share of famous track and Sgt Pepper is no exception. Advantages: Unusual, and interesting, still sounds fresh years after it's release. Disadvantages: Some songs aren't that strong, experiementation outwayed quality at times.
This is one of them classic albums that your Mum and Dad will always say they love, and that in itself is a reason not to buy it. However, it's always best to ignore the hype and listen for yourself so i did, and Sgt Peppers is a great album, although i feel not really worthy of the ridiculous amount of hype its had since it's release.
