Sing The Sorrow - A.F.I.

...is a great one to sing along to at the top of your voice, and the sound you produce will no doubt fill the room for all to enjoy (unless you happen to be tone deaf of course). With this track the band start as they mean to go on, and as they crush their way through the rest of the album the music is never short of enthralling. Although the band are forever changing, there are times on this album when even their early Hardcore Punk sound can be heard ...
...this, and although this element of the sound is watered down with some cleanly sung, softly spoken vocals; there is a definite Hardcore Punk bite about the track, and it does in fact begin in quite a Hardcore fashion. The fact the band do not forget their roots here is great to hear, and this aggressive element of their music certainly sits well with me. 'Girl's Not Grey' was perhaps the bands most well known track until the release of 'Miss Murder' ...

They have released 7 albums and musically each is different to the others....at least that is what fans of rock/punk/metalcore/EMO/*insert other guitar orientated adjective here* will tell you. To an outsider, A.F.I. are basically a rock band towards the punky end of things, therefore, expect speed ...
...who goes from screech to sing with great ease. Track 1: Miseria Cantare: The beginning - you start the CD and here nothing and then a drum beats, synths build and you hear a chanting of, "love your hate, your faith lost, you are now one of us" as the drum beat picks up. Silence, drum beat and in comes Havok, chanting rather than singing the initial lines, when he hits the word "incinerate" the band kicks in, one of those spine tingling moments. ...

...fact, I truly believe that it is the best £15 I have ever spent. In fact, I would have gladly paid more. I would have traded every other CD I own just to sing the sorrows along with Davey, Jade, Hunter and Adam. Lost, confused, bored even? Buy this Album. ...

The first half could be considered more radio friendly, with singles "The Leaving Song Part Two" and "Girls Not Grey" placed alongside equally dark and introverted songs "Bleed Black" and "Silver and Cold". If those songs prove that, yes, Davey can sing properly and doesn't need to unleash his gutteral punk roar, then "Death of Seasons" and "Dancing Through Sunday" prove that AFI haven't ...
...not quite) rivals "God Called In Sick Today". Sing the Sorrow is an impressive album that all but the most hard nosed punk should be able to enjoy. It's not as good as "Black Sails in the Sunset", but its a damn sight better than "The Art of Drowning". ...

Their 6th full rounded album, Sing the Sorrow, released last year was a most anticipated album by fans, critics and the music industry alike. A highly talked about band, raising from the underground punk scene in the early 1990's on the east bay hardcore region in California. They had hit the big time with albums such as Black sails in the sunset and Art of drowning, but this was the big one, the time and financial backing was there, with the guidance ...
...have racked up great bands as nirvana, blink182, smashing pumpkins, bad religion and many more they were surely destined to make the big breakthrough with this album. After weeks and weeks of waiting for a release date it finally came, and my order on Amazon was already booked, 12 main tracks, and 2 special songs for the UK edition only, it was worth the wait and the money. AFI, aka A Fire Inside, this is their 6th album, and was the most talked about, by the faned. This band are totally unique, their sound is different all of the time and they keep you guessing. Their previous albums Art of Drowning, and Black Sails in the Sunset, have a totally different sound but this album is more friendly to anyones ears really, and shows their growth in music. I believe the UK version is Special Edition, and I prefer this artwork ...
...The drumming in this album is just so catchy, and Davey's lyrics are dark and evoking to emotions. Lead singer Davey Havok, has a very outgoing personality, with his true colours that show. Covered in tattoo's with meaning, being straight edge.
