What a fantastic album, if you like Leona's voice you will love this album, being a music fanatic and studying music at A level I feel more than competent to review this album. There are variety of beautiful songs on here, from ballards to more up-beat songs giving it a great variety. The Spirit Album consists of 13 unique tracks and a repeated bonus tract of last years number one A Moment In Time The first song on the album is Bleeding love, which is her new chart topping single, released no coincidentally to get her a spot as a guest singer on 'X Factor'. This album is surprising. It's consistently strong even though it dwindles towards the end due to the slower songs. It will appeal to American listeners alot as there's alot of modern rnb beats going on here and there. Whatever it Takes and Take a bow are strong contenders for singles. Wowser!!! I'm so pleased that they took this girl's career seriously and gave her some top quality material to sing, unlike the long line of other reality show stars. The time it took for her to release her first album was definitely worth the wait. 'Take a bow' is filled with attitude, 'First time ever I saw your face' makes the hairs on your arms stand up as does 'Footprints in the sand'. Most critics admitted the single Bleeding Love was a stomping, catchy but contemporary track which officially made this X Factor genuine talent into a genuine star. However, a couple of weeks later with the release of the album suddenly she was manufactured, disappointing, too 'americanized' and lacking a definite future within the music business. She's now also had huge success stateside and worldwide, so there must be something more to this girl ...

Sure, somes tracks are not the most original (in particular Homeless and Angel) but some songs are real growers given a few listens (Take A Bow, Whatever It Takes, Yesterday, Better In Time) and there is actually a significant variety (particularly when including the two bonus tracks, Misses Glass - my personal favourite of the two, and Forgive Me - very Gwen Stefani-esque and written by Akon). Amazing! Leona definately deserved to win the XFactor and this is a fab first album! I think Bleeding Love will go down as one of the best selling singles of all time. The album cover is great and is so understated. 'The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face' is outstanding and very romantic! Excellent buy - well worth every penny. I bought this album for my 13 yr old god daughter. She has been excited about the album coming out since X-factor last year! Was meant to be a Christmas present but I'm too soft! I knew Leona Lewis brought out a single and her voice was superb, but was a little dubious of how the album would sound.... (repetetive/boring etc) but I had no reaason to worry. She most certainly has the voice of a diva the tracks are varied, from slow and soppy to upbeat ...
...the whole album, from the glossy cover, all 14 tracks down to the £8.00 price tag, which again I thought was quite reasonable for a new-release album. For her first album release i think this one is pretty good. She has proved that although it has taken her the best part of a year to produce.....It was well worth the wait in my opinion. For starters Leona Lewis is an absolutely amazing singer, her voice is individual, nothing like you've heard before. Every song has a meaning behind it which makes it all the more special as they have had thought put in to them. I will list the songs at the end. This album is amazing, when i first bought it i couldn't stop listening to it. There are a mixture of songs on it, my favourites are Better In Time, Footprints In The Sand and also Yesterday. For her debut album, i think its a very good album, the songs all sound a bit different so you don't get bored of them sounding all the same. I really did enjoy this I cannot get tired of listening to it. What Talent. and she really appeals to all ages.
