...rise of steps. Here's a step by step (you knew tht was coming) guide to the album.
1. Steptro - A boring and rather pointless intro that we really could have done without.
2. Last thing on my mind - This is a cover of Bananaramas classic and is ultra disco-friendly. It soared to no.6 in the charts and gave steps their first top ten hit.
3. 5,6,7,8 - The first single. Went on to no.14 in the charts and claimed the rather unusual title of being ... ...Ok then. Unashamedly europop meets line dancing! What were they thinking?!
4. One for sorrow - And when this one reached no.2, the UK realised it had found the new sensation of the 90's. Not as fast as the previous 2 and more effort was put on Claires' fantastic vocals. Just a point to make that this has been remixed for release in the U.S in the next couple of weeks.
5. Heartbeat - And they can do ballads too. This was their christmas effort teamed ...

If you are expecting a dynamic, original piece of work then this is probably not going to count among you favorite albums. Equally if you are looking for some great guitar riffs and thunderous drums then look elsewhere. What we have here is the second album release from the squeaky-clean girls and boys from Steps which is nothing more than yet another pop-album. Re-hashes of old Stock, Aitken and Waterman tracks and Bee Gees songs for example are ... ...a tribute album rather than a band’s latest album release. Original it ain’t. But then this doesn’t necessarily make it a bad album, just a sad commentary on the music industry where it is easier to re-release old and tested songs rather than run the risk that new-one might not be as popular. Is songwriting really this bad now, or is the pursuit of greater profits stifling any of the song writing talent that is out there at the ...

I know Step One is a really old album, but I had it on today and it brought back loads of memories of my “Steps Days!” so I thought I’d have to write a review about it!
***Steps***
Steps were a chart-topping group of 5 pop stars, 2 boys, “H” and Lee, and 3 girls, Lisa, Faye and Claire. Steps were one of the most popular groups of the late 90’s. There music was classed as pop, although most people I know say it is cheesy pop! They ... ...released!
***Step One***
Step One was released in 1998; it was the first album to be released by Steps. This album introduces the band in a personal as well as musical way!
***How To Recognise This Album***
Step One is quite easy to recognise in the shops. The cover has a white background with the words “Steps, Step One” across the top and bottom, the words at the bottom are upside down and in blue and the words at the top are upright and a kind ...

Advantages: Fantastic classic pop songs Disadvantages: Some boring slow ones
This was an impressive debut from the Steptastic quintet. Definitely not s good as their second effort Steptacular, but there are definitely some classics on here. The album opens with the odd Steptro, an overlong intro to Last Thing On My Mind, track two. The other singles (5,6,7,8, One For Soorow and Heartbeat) are next. The first three are all amazing pop songs that Steps are known for. Heartbeat is one half of their million selling single (Tragedy ... ...comes the weaker part of the album. This Heart Will Love Again and Too Weak To Resist are nice and memorable slow songs, but Experienced, sung chiefly by the boys is a song I would imagine Steps would rather forget, in both the musical and lyrical sense. Better Best Forgotten starts off the last leg of the album with a fantastic pace, before leading into Back To You, your average (but fantastic) pop song. Love U More is an unusual pop song, and it ...

Steps first album Step One is a very very very very very very unoriginal album. Its songs are very similar and get very very boring after listening to them three or four times. It seems so long ago that five six seven eight was released and so buying it is a total waste of time. Unless the lyrics are any interest to you then keep your hands and ears off it. This album is so bad that Steps should pay people to listen to it. So please do not not not ...

Advantages: Good pop songs Disadvantages: Might be difficult to get hold of this album now
Steps were formed in 1997 and this was their debut album, which was produced by Pete Waterman. Contrary to popular belief, the group weren't put together by him. He only started producing them after their debut single.
Always good value at parties and for listening to, Steps did terrible concerts without live bands so I refused to go and see them except at roadshows and one-off charity concerts. However, I enjoyed most of their songs and I especially ... ...Here's a track listing.

7. Experienced
8. Too Weak To Resist

Track 1 - Steptro
A quick and rather pointless little instrumental tune which leads into track 2.

Advantages: Good as background, but that's about it Disadvantages: A bit hit and miss
I bought this because I enjoyed Steptacular so much, but I have to concede that this album is nowhere near as good. It's okay to listen to in the background, but even by the fourth time through there is no track here, which makes me stop what I'm doing to just listen. Single releases such as One For Sorrow, Last Thing On My Mind and Better Best Forgotten are good to hear again, though I have to admit to hating 5-6-7-8. Track 6, This Heart Will Love ...

Review of Step One - Steps
Advantages: um... something to laugh at! Disadvantages: ...there really are too many to list.
Steps are just fantastic. (Notice the sarcasm?) This manufactured girl/boy band are the most annoying group around at the moment. It is a proven fact! All they do when they want to release a new song, is get the backing track from one of their previous singles and record different words over the top. Every song they produce sounds exactly the same! I can't believe that they have been getting away with this for so long. It's outragous, i can tell ... ...are just kidding themselves. ...Abba. Ring any bells? Yes, I thought so too. They seem to be copying Abba's songs aswell, but just using a slightly tackier beat and a slight variation of words used.
I was once fortunate to see Steps live at a Chart Show for free. (I CERTAINLY wouldn't pay for this) And was disgusted. Not only did they mime, but they also had the cheesiest, tackiest dance routing, which was hideous. I don't think that Steps could ...

Advantages: good cheesy-pop music Disadvantages: cheap effects
The debut album from poptastic steps, featuring all of their hit singles including their no.1 song 'Heartbeat'.
This album has not been a favourite with the critics, but essentially it is fun, happy pop music, and nothing too profound or to be taken too seriously.
Out of the 12 tracks on the album there are no real duds, except from their line-dancing debut single '5,6,7,8' which is just incredibly embarassing.
Nicely put together, with a smart ... ...including 'One for sorrow', 'Back to you' and 'Love U more', although anyone above about the age of eleven will probably see the music as cheesy.
The songs are all, essentially, formula pop, not offering anything very special, but it is good quality.

Advantages: good songs Disadvantages: songs sound alike
Step one is steps first album and i have to say it is a good album.
All the songs on this album are pop songs, so if you don't like pop songs then you will not like this album.
There are 12 songs on this album which are:-
septro
last thing on my mind
5678
one for sorrow
heartbeat
this heart will love again
experienced
too weak to resist
better best forgotten
back to you
love you more
stay with me
Some of the songs on this album have ... ...and 5678. Both are good songs to sing a long to. The only fault with this album is that a lot of the songs that steps sing do sound very alike.
I bought this album for £9.99 from the local supermarket. if you look around you can find it for a bargain price as it has been out for quite a while now though.
Id recommend people to buy this album especially if you like steps songs. ...

Advantages: great party music which will get everyone up dancing Disadvantages: none
This is Steps first album. It is full of catchy tunes that will have you dancing the night away.Including 5,6,7,8 which is a line dancing type of song which the dance is based on is an excellent tune and as with all their other songs they provide you witha dance for you do learn and do. Other songs are one for sorrow about a lover cheating on them which is a cross between a ballad and a pop song. Last thing on my mind which is a dancing tempo again ... ...for the kiddy end of the music market but it is all fun music which is great for parties or easy listening. So go and have a go of the dances to the songs and you will realise what type oflisteners who they are trying to attract. People who love good music and want to get involved. ...

Steps are a typical band made in the studio for Teenagers though there fame is based on Abba who came before it is in my opinion sad becasue all bands like these lack anything new its has more to do with how the material is managed than talent to there sucess and I am one for bands who make there own music both in song writing and sound protuction rather than someone else writing the song and making the music and getting some faces to go along with ... ...am ever more critical of these kind of bands but when you have much better talent out there who are not getting the break because of this dross it is a sad state

On this debut album of Steps, England's number one pop group you can hear happy and catchy songs. All their break through hits are on it: '5, 6, 7, 8', 'Last thing on my mind', the lovely 'One for sorrow' and many others. Why should you buy this album? Because it makes you feel better when you are down, the songs are very catchy, it's just fantastic. It all kicked off for the band steps with the line-dancing track 5,6,7,8! That was it, the all smiling and dancing group shot into the charts with similar tracks such as Tragedy which school children up and down the country danced to in the playground for months after its release.
