Advantages: Good versions of some less familiar oldies Disadvantages: Some tracks rather dull
Over the years the Stones have issued around half a dozen live albums. Most are rather sloppy rehashes of greatest hits onstage, and only for the completist. 'Stripped', recorded mainly live at club gigs in Paris and Amsterdam, plus sessions from tour rehearsals, released autumn 1995, is perhaps not essential. This is the stones’ effort at producing an unplugged album and this has been done effortlessly and with a lot of style. This is a fantastic album and shows how good they are as musicians and where there roots lie. There is a great cover of dylan’s song ‘like a rolling stone’ and the old favourites make their appearances without making the album into a greatest hits. The more random numbers (the spider and the fly, and , love in vain) are simply beautiful ...
