Supergrass are the peter pans of the music scene. It seems like only yesterday the 70s style sideburn trio was churning out the first brand of cheeky chappy music we got to know them with. I'm thinking 'Alright' and lyrics like 'well you ate our chips and you drank our coke, and then you showed me mars through your telescope' off 'Grace'. ...7or 8 years ago that Supergrass would ever be releasing a greatest hits CD. I'm guessing not many people. They're one of these bands you kind of expected to fade away into Brit pop obscurity, even Oasis and Blur have found it hard to keep their sucess going but here we are 10 years on and they're still going. They've never been known for churning out albums as suggested by just 4 releases in the 10 years but they've managed to dig up enough classics ...
...It all started well about 10 years ago as the title suggests with the release of their debut single 'caught by the fuzz' a frenetic 3 minute guitar pop masterpiece and still my favourite of their songs. Maybe that was because in 1994 (when supergrass started) i was only 8 (awwwww......) and still into the joys of Jason Donovan (yes i do feel ashamed!) and Boyzone etc. Oh isnt Youth innocent......but now im 18 i have amazingly somehow discovered Supergrass, and im glad i did. ...in the gaps in the Supergrass history, you can get their albums. In my opinion this is one of the best 'Best of' albums around. There are plenty of songs on here that you know, but didn't realise were by Supergrass. Towards the end of the album there are a few tracks that I wouldn't personally have put on, but of course this is personal taste, and you might completely disagree. Supergrass still seem like a young band, so it's hard to believe they are releasing a hits compilation. Their bouncey fuzzed up pop was one of the high points of brit pop and it's no surprise they survived the post brit pop purge that some lesser bands soccumbed to. 'Alright'. 'Sun hits the sky' and 'caught by the fuzz' could be hits for any band starting out today. It's rock music but with a pop heart. Supergrass resist pretension and lengthy guitar ...

Although it is true that they have been running for 10 years now, they're not exactly mainstream, or at the top of their genre, in my oppinion.
