Pearl Jam can be summed up simply: grunge for the thinking man. More intelligent than Nirvana but equally edgy, this album should be as famous as the latter's 'Nevermind,' but for some inexplicable reason, it isn't. this was a brilliant album, everyone said Pearl Jam were like nirvana but I always thought they were more like guns and roses. They could do the punky fast paced songs like nivana eg Why Go home and Porch but could also do the big rock ballards like Jeremy and Black. The lyrics are really personal and Eddie Vedder who is the lead singer has a very deep voice but has a good range and good delivery. Every song is a classic from this album starting ...

...extensive collection. That's hot amazing Ten is. Pearl Jam's debut album is arguably their best and definitely the first one that you should buy. Usually I would recommend certain songs that you should download if you're not buying the album, but the job is a whole lot harder when you get an album where all the tracks are fantastic. This was the beginning for a long and successful career for the members of Pearl Jam. Telling the story of his childhood, in songs like: "Alive", "Porch", and "Release" Eddie Vedder expresses himself with astonishing vocals and lyrics. Of course what Pearl Jam album would be complete with out a couple of political songs such as "Jeremy". Written about the incident where a young child brought a gun to school in Texas. This was a ground breaking album ...
...other grunge bands in the Seattle Washington area. Mike Mccready does a phenomenal job playing licks on his guitar with so much soul and feeling. Jeff Ammet plays his bass like it might be his last album. Stone Gossard helped write most of the songs and the signature drum beats is provided by Dave Krusen. Pearl Jam are part of the 90s seattle grunge scene, i love nirvana but for me Pearl Jam are the talent in grunge. The singer has a fantastic voice that never brakes and the musicians are skillful in every sense.
