Advantages: Stunning, jaw-dropping, powerful and immediate, I hope that's an advantage.
Disadvantages: That is wasn't four times as long on the same vibe, as Pearl Jam lost the edge after this debut.

Advantages: a classic
Disadvantages: quite old now

this was a brilliant album, everyone said Pearl Jam were like nirvana but I always thought they were more like guns and roses. They could do the punky fast paced songs like nivana eg Why Go home and Porch but could also do the big rock ballards like Jeremy and Black. ...in, and I bought the Ten album then. "Black" in particular got my attention, as well as "Porch". Both songs are heartbreaking and seem remarkably personal for a band, which makes a lot of noise. Lyrically strong, and Eddie’s voice going through into your core, gives for an excellent CD. ... Read review

Advantages: Grunge rock with a touch of 70s angst
Disadvantages: A little over produced, especially for the genre.

This was the beginning for a long and successful career for the members of Pearl Jam. Telling the story of his childhood, in songs like: "Alive", "Porch", and "Release" Eddie Vedder expresses himself with astonishing vocals and lyrics. Of course what Pearl Jam album would be complete with out a couple of political songs such as "Jeremy". Written about the incident where a young child brought a gun to school in Texas. Pearl Jam are part of the 90s seattle grunge scene, i love nirvana but for me Pearl Jam are the talent in grunge. The singer has a fantastic voice that never brakes and the musicians are skillful in every sense. Best tracks Even Flow Jeremy Alive (live) Once 50/50 split between heavy grunge and chilled out indie.
