Advantages: Everything Freddie did solo Disadvantages: Expensive
...to begin with, this is the Ten CD, Two DVD version of the solo collection, that comes in a very nice large hardback book, the other more popular version is the 3 CD set with selected tracks form this version (which is also a whole lot cheaper).
When I first heard about this collection I was overjoyed, I’ve been a Queen fan for several years, in fact, and sadly, just after Freddie Mercury died. Its interesting to note that I haven’t met ... ...me anyway).
So as the natural progression goes, I started to buy their solo stuff as well, not that there is that much of it about; unlike some bands, the members of Queen grew to respect each other, and they all had an equal footing within the group, they all wrote, played and sang (John Deacon though, only ever backing, (if that)), and each has written a major hit.
As for Freddie, most of his solo work was done in the mid eighties to the early ...

...as not many people appreciate the solo career Freddie had.
Mr.Bad Guy was a fantastic album and I feel very underated. When I played this album to my partner (not really a Queen fan) he loved it. I hope that people buying this Solo collection will also feel the same.
The whole Solo package offers three CD's in total, Mr.Bad Guy, Barcelona; a compilation of operatic tracks and a Bonus CD. It's a great selection and a wonderful opportunity to own ... ...surprised by the synthetic sound of these tracks, however, I feel they lend themselves perfectly to Freddies amazing voice and no-one else could have pulled it off like he did.
It is also affordable, as many boxed special editions aren't, so congratulations to EMI for releasing a superior product. ...

Advantages: A musical and visual extravaganza! Disadvantages: Too expensive for the average fan
On October 23rd, The Freddie Mercury Solo Collection is to be released. The releases are in various formats including a 10 CD and 2 DVD set presented in a deluxe 120 page slipcase hardback book includine a forward by Brian May. The formats then range from a 3 CD set and a Video collection on VHS and DVD. This is a true must for Freddie fans, however I have read on the queen on line site that the 10 cd pack will be in the region of £120.00. Whilst ... ...I have no doubt that the set will be excellent and a must for those with money to burn - however I find that the cost is out of my reach. I shall have to settle for the 3 cd set or the video! Knowing the quality of Freddie's work. Whilst I would recommend anyone to part with their cash for this musical and visual portrait of one of the world's best showmen, I do wish that the cost were lower. The music featured in this set is from Freddie's previous ...

Review of The Freddie Mercury Solo Collection - Freddy Mercury
Advantages: Digitally remastered version of eagerly sought after tracks 3 CDs for £18.00! Disadvantages: The price of the full collection - £120.00
The new Freddie Mercury Solo Collection was released this week and to my surpise it is affordable!! You can pick up a 3 CD (yes that's 3 Cds) for just £17.99 - a bargain I am sure you will agree! There is of course the more expensove de-lux version costing £120.00 but for any fan (not serious collectors) the 3 cd choice is ample. If you are familiar with Freddie's sole work then you will recognise all tracks in the package but for the first time, ... ...joke just before Queen hit the big time! And, of course there is the Mr Bad Guy album , the original of which is getting rarer and rarer - I recently sold a Mint US vinyl copy for £50.00!! So it is a real joy to have a 2000 digitally remastered version - if you are looking for an original version of the Cd watch out now that there are 2000 versions on sale!!
Overall, however the package, which also includes the Barcelona album is a bargain and an ...

Advantages: Bargain, and some good songs aswell Disadvantages: A few duff songs too though
...his debut Mr Bad Guy, the classic Barcelona album and an extra disc containing all his other solo stuff such as The Great Pretender and Love Kills.
It is a bargain.
Okay, so the quality of the first album is a little lacking - there are some good songs here but certainly no classics. It plods along and suffers from some simplistic arrangements more than bad songwriting. As ever though, Freddie's vocas are very impressive.
It's the second album ... ...I thinkmost people think that the idea of Freddie Mercury singing opera would be dreadful, but no it's got loads of good songs on it, the best one being The Golden Boy which is opera come gospel come ballad. Really well written and performed.
The final CD is the most accessible, and contains all his singles including a surprise Beach Boys cover that was recorded before he joined Queen and is quite good song on it own.
Overall, I was pleased with ...
