Advantages: Foo Fighter magic. The CD plays in the computer to let you see some of the video wonders. High quality songs. Disadvantages: No lyrics in the sleeve, not all their best songs.

I’m not trying to keyboard mash for a review and hope that no one notices it either. ... ...keyboard as a piano while listening to the wonderful “There Is Nothing Left to Loose” by the Foo Fighters. I believe that the above text expresses the sheer brilliance of the song writing and studio performance better than any tripe tosh I could offer up in mundane English.

Advantages: Great Very Pop friendly and fills the purpose it appears to have been made for Disadvantages: Not what You would expect if you're an older Foo's fan
So after two albums, which got the Foo Fighters a large loyal fan base it was time to make a third album and I’m sure Dave Grohl didn’t expect the kind of explosion of new fans his band would get from it. This was the album that gave the Foo Fighters international success and really put behind Dave the questions about will he really be able to sustain success after Nirvana.
Just in case anyone has never heard of the Foo Fighters, they are a band ... ...Nirvana. After the death of Kurt Cobain, Grohl released an album on his own and soon got in some mates to join him to play live. Thus the Foo Fighters were formed and went on to make two albums before this: Foo Fighter and The Colour And The Shape. This album saw the first in, which Taylor Hawkins took over from Grohl playing the Drums for an album as Grohl had done on large parts of the previous two albums. Well now onto the actual album itself.

Advantages: It's a good album with plenty of pop appeal Disadvantages: But it's not their best - the poppier direction may alienate some
...Ahem. Once upon a time there was a band called Nirvana that practically ruled the planet. Well, that’s not really very good is it? No, but everyone must know this bit. More importantly, for anyone who lost interest after Kurt’s suicide (or otherwise) is the fact that drummer of said band (the aforementioned Dave Grohl) has since continued with his own band under the moniker Foo Fighters. Advantages: A number of excellent tracks are contained within this album. Disadvantages: There are some supremely average rock tracks that also feature here.
...Fighters track that is 'Breakout'. There are a number of Foo Fighters tracks that I absolutely love, 'Breakout' is my very favourite of them all however and every time I hear the track I smile. 'There Is Nothing Left to Lose' features eleven tracks and this therefore provides for 46 minutes of music. 'The Colour and the Shape' is the bands best album by far in my opinion, this one certainly still contains a number of excellent tracks however and ... ...is really quite disappointing, whilst there are some absolute highs there are also some definite lows. With the tracks I've outlined the band gets the music spot on; the guitar work is excellent and the vocals also are exquisitely put across in the sound, all too often here however the music of the Foo Fighters fails to really ignite. The sound created is not bad as such, it just lacks passion and there's a lack of intensity and drive showcased on ...

...wicked.
But of course, there are bad moments, and i must confess that i don't really care for the acoustic-y, boring "next year" and "ain't it the life". But the good far, far outweighs the bad, and "ain't it the life" is followed by the perfect ending of the brooding "M.I.A", so i can't really complain can i? The album was recorded in Dave Grohl's house but you'd never know it of course, the production is brilliant, rough and glossy at the same ... ...in my house!
A word must also go out to the amazing packaging - i got the posh USA ltd version with a totally gorgeous fold out digipak and an FF logo temporary tattoo! This is one of those albums that, like "dead reckoning" by Small Brown Bike or "we speak in code" by True North, looks just how it sounds, if that makes any sense. Lots of clean white, with a good use of space and damaged photos. i'm a bit of a packaging and aesthetics person, and ...

Advantages: Breakout, Learn To Fly, Aurora, Next Year Disadvantages: none
There Is nothing Left To Loose Is the Foo Fighters third album following on from the hugely successful ‘The Colour And The Shape’. This album shows to me that the Foo Fighters have grown up a bit and have made more mature album here. I was really looking forward to the release of this album and when I got it home and listened to it (which was a while ago now) I was not disappointed, because in my opinion this is the best album they have ... ...‘Learn To Fly’ is in there and is more than worth a look. So to sum it up, this album is in my opinion there finest album to date, as its has more stand out songs than the Foo’s first two, and it really show’s Dave Grohl as a very talented musician and Song Writer, with a great band behind him. ...

Advantages: Good music, good variation Disadvantages: tad lengthy, bad inlay (picky)
...to a soft indie-rock feel, there is a good variation on the album. Lyrics are good, reading some of them helps, much more meaningful when read I felt, and Grohl’s voice seemed to range well throughout the album, adjusting accordingly to any range that was needed, from his trademark screaming to his nice melodic, ‘proper’ singing. The inlay offers nothing! A picture of each member in a dark room with their instruments, what happened ...

Advantages: Some great songs Disadvantages: Overall quality isn't as good as the debut
The Foo Fighters return with a different line up to the one that recorded the slightly disappointing The Color and the Shape. Opening with the violently riffing Stacked Actors you think the album is going to be absolutely fantastic. But it’s not sadly – it’s not bad, not at all. But it doesn’t live up to the promise of Stacked Actors. Nor does it beat their first, self titled, album. The album does have some other great moments, Learning to Fly (Which ...

Of course there are plenty of standard rock tracks on this record, like the excellent "Learn To Fly", and the aggressive scream-fest "Breakout". Also worth a mention is "Generator" in which Dave uses a Talk-Box effect - very cool.
Overall, this album isn't as good as "The Colour And The Shape", but is still very good. Note that the CD (at least the limited edition version) is "enhanced" - and has pictures, lyrics etc. that you ...

The Foo Fighters third album, and the first that can really be called a (three piece !) band effort, with taylor hakwins taking on the drum stool. Featuring the great hit singles Learn To fly, generator and Breakout , the rest of the album more than lives upt the singles and it is definately the sort of album that you'll listen to again and again and the whole way through from start to finish. Definately recommended for anyone who liked the first ...

It is rare that you hear these songs on radio and I only got this album after hearing breakout in the hope that all the other songs where as good. I was amazed they where all nearly as good if not better than the original song I had heard.

Advantages: easy listening very cool stuff Disadvantages: none
'There is nothing to lose', released by the Dave Grohls Foo Fighters in 1999, is their latest of a string of excellent albums. This album, although maybe not as good as 'Colour And The Shape', contains a string of hits including 'Learn to fly' (#3) and 'Breakout' (#2 - which isn't one of my favourites). Grohl is, and always has been a talented song writer. 'Gimme stitches', track 4 is perhaps on of his best ever. I'm not really sure which genre they ... ...a mix of rock and pop in this album, which is just so much better than anything previously attempted by any other band before them.
Each track is very well written, as I said, but their musical abilities stretch further than that. The drummer is perhaps, on of the best ever, guitar and vocals (excellent voice) from Grohl (ex Nirvana DRUMMER - Flip, this guy has talent!!!!) and bass are also as good as they can be.
Its much slower than their other ...

This is the best cd yet from the Foo Fighters. It has the excellent hit singles "learn to fly" and "breakout" which is taken from the new Jim Carrey film "me,myself and Irene". It also has the excellent "M.I.A" which should be released as a single. good album with some very good songs on it. the singles so far have been very good and follow on previous songs such as monkey wrench. Leran to fly, generator, breakout and next year are my highlights of the album with next year sounding very different to the other three as it is more mellow. The first half of the album is heavier with the second half generally similar to next year - which is very good live if you see them especially the acoustic ...
