Advantages: Brilliant debut album, varied and consistantly good Disadvantages: Only one rubbish song!
...made her debut 'pop' album Tissues & Issues and this is what I think…
Charlotte starts the album with dirty bass and breathy 'ooh's' and 'aaaahhh's'. 'Call My Name' was her second single to hit the top ten, and it's a filthy little romp. "I like the sound of your hand slapping, your whip cracking, this could be painful'. It's a short 2.54 minutes of pure camp sexy sleazy motown pop and its genius. It matches the voluptuous mix image she has created. ... ...on. It's a real upbeat motown piece that a lot of pop princesses would kill for. ' I go ballistic yeah your making me a crazy chick' it's a real feel good song which showed how Charlotte could go from opera to pop. Girls Aloud have claimed that Charlotte's nicked their sound but I don't think this sounds anything like. It's just radio friendly and catchy and I don't think only Girls Aloud have the demographic on that! 5/5
'Moodswings (To Come At ...

Advantages: A few fairly decent pop songs Disadvantages: A few not so decent pop songs
I'm quite possibly the kind of person that Charlotte Church was aiming at when she decided to take a change of direction into pop music. I would never even have considered buying her "Voice of an Angel" style CDs, purely because classical and operatic style music isn't my thing. I do, however, have a liking for well crafted pop music, so I'd always be likely to give her pop debut a chance, if it seemed worth it.
Church certainly seemed to have all ... ...After all, she had the sports star boyfriend like Posh Spice and Cheryl from Girls Aloud. She had been pictured falling out of nightclubs like the Gallagher brothers of Oasis. And she has an ex-boyfriend selling all her secrets to the tabloids like…well, just about everybody, really.
Of course, living the life of a pop star doesn't mean you'll be any good at actually being one, as the winners of "Fame Academy" will be able to tell you. The only ...

Advantages: all around strong album Disadvantages: the singles didnt sell well
Well this is another of the CD's that having returned home seem to have become a fixture on my CD player. Everyone knows who Charlotte Church is, shes the little girl who sang classical/opera music discovered by Richard and Judy, but she has grown up and as this happen it was somewhat inevtiable that she would choose to aim an album at the popular music market, her vocal talent in undeniable but how well does it cross to pop music?
This album was ... ...is packed with songs for strong women, Call My Name the first track tells the story of a sexually confident girl far removed from the young girl was saw singing 'old person' music just a few years ago.
The first release from the album was Crazy Chick. Lyrically it isnt the stuff of genius but then who would expect that? It set the standard for the rest of the album. The song is about a girl who despite being confident and happy within herself has ...

Advantages: Excellent variety of songs and full of soul Disadvantages: not for everyone.
The path from Classical singer to pop icon is a very tricky one, with many artists regretting their crossover. The debut album from Charlotte Church has helped her to crossover completely into the world of pop in one record, while still maintaining the musical integrity which goes with the classical genre. The opening track, "Call my Name" sets the tone for the album with a strong, "Not for kids" message. At only 3 minutes in length it is short and ... ...track is a breath of fresh air for pop music. From here on there is a definite trend of relationship troubles and insecurity. Understandable for someone of Church's age.
The second track, "Crazy chick" was the first single taken form the album, and after listening to the whole album it is clear it was a good choice. A very simple song: a couple of verses and a catchy chorus, supplemented by Church's amazing vocal ability. Different from the later ...

Charlotte Church is a girl who seems to know her own mind - she knows what she likes and what she doesn't and she won't be forced in to a corner by anyone. So perhaps, bearing this in mind, I should have expected her to produce an album like this, full of strong and original songs that seem to have been created especially for her, with no close resemblance to the rest of those abundant female solo artists. I, however, for some reason did not have ... ...was releasing an album. I knew as soon as I heard that Charlotte had hired removals to chuck out her past operatic persona and transport her to the contemporary world of pop that I would be buying her album, no matter what. I made this decision based on two reasons - my personal indulgence of late teens/twenty somethings who can't quite hold their alcohol and don't quite care, myself fitting undeniably in to this category, and my love of cheesy girly ...

Advantages: can be used in various situations Disadvantages: lyrics on some songs could be better
After initially buying this album after hearing the singles released, "call my name" and "crazy chick" I was pleasantly surprised at how good the rest of the songs were. My favourite song on the album is "show a little faith" which has excellent lyrics that can relate to almost anybody in many different situations. Other favourites on the album are "confessional song" and "easy way out" although confessional song doesn't have the best lyrics I've ... ...excellent and shows of Charlottes talented voice very well. The whole album is extremely easy listening and I don't find myself skipping any tracks to get to the next one as I often would do with other albums. The album is great for playing as background music or in the car. It has a mixture of slow and upbeat songs so it lifts your mood with some songs and helps calm you with others.
