Advantages: Beautiful vocals, meaningful lyrics. Every song is brilliant. Disadvantages: Where's Beth disappeared to?
Trailer Park was released in 1996 as Beth Orton's debut album, but it really doesn't show. I am sure you can find accomplished artists who can't bring out an album as good as this. Beth's vocals manage somehow to be both sweet and melancholy at the same time. And the songs actually mean something. Advantages: Good layout, design and style Disadvantages: a bit depressing!
A good CD. Her voice is a bit 'grungy' and although the album is labelle 'trailer park' she's definitely no 'trailer trash!' Beth Orton's lyrics are harmonious and emotional. The sound can seem repetitive the first time through but, given a chance, the lyrics and meanings behind the songs bring out a different quality in each of them. Somewhat depressing though, the album deals a lot with the artists own struggles and a sense of pain comes across ...
