I bought a whole bunch of new music recently (new to me) and this was by far the album that stood out head and shoulders above the rest. The whole album is a pleasant listening experience, there wasn't one single track that I disliked or would skip over. Midlake reminded me very strongly of Turin Brakes and to a slightly lesser degree, Neutral Milk Hotel. Basically if you are a fan of Turin Brakes then you could go buy this album right now and ...
...I had never heard of Midlake before now, in my opinion they are not getting the recognition their superb talents deserve. It's hard to pin down what period of time the music seems to be from.
