Advantages: Unique, interesting, clever music
Disadvantages: A while to get into, a couple of weaker tracks
Had I written this review six months ago, I would have told you that Interpol was self-obsessed, boring, depressive music for moody teenagers and given it two stars. I couldn't understand why my sister, who usually has an impeccable taste in music (I'll forget the S-Club 7 CD's of her childhood…) was so hooked on a band that seemed to me to be so comprehensively dull. The Bright Lights Are On.
Review of Turn On The Bright Lights - Interpol by

Advantages: Hypnotic, luscious voice with interesting lyrical content.
Disadvantages: Final tracks are somewhat disappointing.
Interpol are a neat little discovery; their music has a haunting quality about it, and the lyrics create an atmosphere of mystery and discovery. From the opening track, 'Untitled', you get an idea of the sound of this band, though it is basically an introductional piece, rather than a song in its own right. Advantages: All killer, no filler!
Disadvantages: No 'hits' that anyone could relate to.
Interpol are a four-piece collective from New York, Stateside that are now 2 albums into their career, 'Turn On The bright Lights' being their debut album from October 2002. 2 guys from the UK and 2 from the US...surely that will breed success and diversity, no?
