I was given this album by a friend a week or so ago. I enjoyed the last album (am i meant to admit that at 27?), but not enough to go out and buy her second one. But now I own it, I am glad I do. For someone so young, Avril Lavigne seems to know a lot about being in love, and being hurt....in fact, in some of the songs she comes across as almost jaded about it all. These songs are great, packed full of emotion and Avril's voice is strong and clear which makes them a pleasure to listen to. Avril Lavigne's Under My Skin is the fallow-up release of "Let Go" - her first album. It's a great album to show she is not a "one album" pop star. Though her music is used to be marked as punk, her style, and especially this release has a pop(rock) feel. I could spend hours listening during my working hours for relaxing. In Under My Skin, she had much more say in her songs, taking the lead role in the writing or co-writing with other people (including Chantal Kreviazuk, Ben Moody, and her guitar player, Evan Taubenfeld, just to name a few). Great 2nd album it was, so much so i am still listening to it now. Brilliant songs great lyrics from the heart . Album cover was great also, very dark and gothic. It doest have many new ideas but she jazzez up her old ones and it works well.I loved the song " he wasnt" its simple yet brillinatly done "He wouldn't even open up the door/He never made me feel like I was special." the osngs are all ismular in tone and subject. Having owned this album since it first hit shop floors I can be the first to say that it is honestly brilliant! I originally paid £12.99 for it, but you can find it much cheaper on sites such as this and ebay.
