Kate Rusby's singing voice is a very honest one, revealing her northern accent, which I think is wonderful in this age of Pseudo-American pop singers. She manages to convey both complexity and simplicity in her well-crafted songs - which draw on traditional lyrics and original music.

It's dangerous to describe this as folk music, as most people will switch off immediately. However, describe this as honest, endearing acoustic music with brilliant songs and superb backing and we are getting nearer the truth. The first four songs set the mood beautifully, The Good Man is wonderful, Let Me Be has the most addictive hook of all times, Cruel is honest and sad.
