It's not really what I was expecting from Janet after the last release of Rythym Nation.
However, the album is a good one. It's swinging and souldful, music you can quite easily lye down on the couch and click your fingers to. I did find that the interlude's were a bit of a pain though. My favourite track on this record is 'Got til it's gone', a swaying hit song that was played in the club lots of times.

The velvet rope by janet jackson is a very good album and is one of my favourite albums. I listen to it over and over again because there are many different types of songs there to suit your moods. It has slow songs, fast and upbeat songs, slick songs most of the songs are great and a few of them were hits. Admittedly, as soon as I knew this album was out, I ran out and bought it!!
Fans of Janet will definately not be dissapointed with this installment of the Miss Janet saga. After the phenomenal success of the Rhytmn Nation outing, this time the audio backdrop is a little more diversified. Still in a dance-fusion vein though, this time we get the amazing Vanessa Mae popping up for one of the opening gambits, which is definately a good thing.

Velvet Rope is by far the best album from Janet Jackson and contains the best songs she has ever produced. My absolute favourite is Velvet Rope which has Vanassa Mae on it playing the violin and the lyrics are about a love story and the sound of it is great, Jackson mixes a pop and R&B style together.
