... I must say I knew very little of Cher’s songs when I read them on the back of the CD. I’d had the double CD, featuring tracks from her past albums as well as singles, and with over 44 songs on the album I only knew around six or seven. Disadvantages: Redundant if you have other greatest hits albums, old 'Bang Bang,' remix of 'Different Kind of Love Song'

...hits collection to date. 'The Very Best of Cher' features nearly all of Cher's hits plus a remix from 'Living Proof.' Since I already have 'If I Could Turn Back Time' (her previous greatest hits collection) and 'Living Proof,' I wasn't planning on buying this album, despite it's enticing packaging. Advantages: Most of the 80's/90's stuff is really rather good in hindsight
Disadvantages: She took that vocodered stuff too far, and there's no new songs on it

To accompany her neverending farewell tour (come on Cher, just say cheerio and be done with it), in 2003 Cher released another of her Greatest Hits collections. The tracklisting rarely varies on her collections, but you cant blame an old bird for trying when she really cant be bothered to go into the recording studio anymore. This review is on yet another 'best of' album, although of course this particular one has been around for quite some time. I am that you may call a closet Cher fan, you know what I mean! But anyway, actually on to the album itself. A single CD in a case, I got it for £11.99 years ago in my local WHSmith. But of course these days you can always get it cheaper in any number of places, and so check it out! Places like Amazon or Ebay may hold ... Read review

Advantages: Her best songs all in one place.
Disadvantages: Another best of hits collection.

This is another of those best of hits collections, but is different from a lot of the other ones. For a start the others are not about Cher, and second there are some good tracks on this one. Starting off with a short biography on the singer, this details her rise to fame through the means of dueting with Sonny; being on her own chat show, through the lines of acting to finally becooming one of the greatest female artists of this time.
