Pantera’s second album was one of the greatest rock albums ever made. It’s an incredible album with non-stop hits. It contains every thing anyone could ask for. It has pumping hard core instrumentals with “F**cking hostile” from the slow songs which they do great. They paved the road for many other bands. While this wasn’t their best album it does go down as one of my favorites. When I go places no matter where I pop ...

Advantages: Awesome songs and vocal style Disadvantages: None
This is, put quite simply, an amazing metal album. Released after their first label debut "Cowboys From Hell", "Vulgar" ups the ante in everyway. Gone are the Rob Halford screams and glam-rock tendencies of "CFH". Vocalist Phil Anselmo delivers a more brutal, aggressive vocal style which suits the harder music perfectly. The great thing is, the vocals are still very defined and clear which really adds to the experience of this album.
The trio of ...

Advantages: Classic Anthems - Walk, F*cking Hostile. The Price. Beats The Crap Outta Linkin Park Disadvantages: NONE Sucka! it's sheer gold
Hello All! it's Andy again, back with another mind numbingly boring opinion....wait, I was only joking, it'll be good really. As I'm here stuck in Australia and college doesn't start for another week, I've decided to write again, for all you lucky people. This time I have decided on the musical talent of Texan band Pantera and their aggresive style.
Now as you know I'm not a big fan of the newer Metal of today. Things like Linkin Park really make ...

Advantages: Christ on a bike it's heavy Disadvantages: widdly-woo guitar solos
Back when this album was released in 1992 Pantera were called 'power metal' but today I suppose it would be dumped in the category of nu-metal even though it still piss' all over most of todays nu-metal scene in terms of sheer power and aggression.
I suppose it is some kind of tribute to this album that for years after it's release there were endless guitar samples from many of it's tracks appearing on virtually every heavy industrial album being ...

Advantages: a face melting blinding onslaught of rage and menace for the metal head Disadvantages: heavy but basic riffs will leave technical sophisticates unimpressed
The cover is a photo of some band members face being punched, in black and white. No colourful and artistic paintings here I'm afraid. The cover says it all. The music-when played loud, is like a hard punch to the face.
The cd inlay (booklet) is typically metal inspired showing the lead vocalists tatooed topless body and his angry expression.
Another photo of dimebag lashing out some riffage is also there.
All the lyrics are included ...

Advantages: Hard Fast Metal Disadvantages: Not For The Family Picnic
...new breed of metal. Vulgar Display of Power is a beast of an album that back in 1992 was the cutting edge of metal and was the sort of music that your neighbours would hate. The first track says it all "mouth for war" imagine one of the scariest blokes you have ever seen screeming that at you. Great isn't it? The most popular track on thee albulm is "walk" at one time all the clubs would play it 3 or 4 times a night. A few years ago when Pantera released ...

Advantages: Fast and Thrilling Disadvantages: Lock up your Granny!
Vulgar Display of Power. Pantera's second ground-breaking heavy metal album. Released in 1992, it features some of Pantera's heaviest songs, such as F***ing Hostile (4), a real mosh-pit track. I bought this album a couple of years ago on the off-chance that it would have been as good as their previous work (Cowboys From Hell). I feel it is one of their best-known albums because of the tracks that are on it. Walk (3) has to be one of the most imfamous ...

Advantages: Pantera's unique sound at a very intense and grindable stage + dimebag darrell -nuff said Disadvantages: its perfect, it can only be bad if you don't like the grindy style
Beautifull in the primal way that Pantera is so good at expressing. A mix of purest grinding sludgy riffage and Dimebag's trademark widdly wailage-age-age. This album is full of so many classics Walk, F*cking Hostile, Rise, A New Level they have to be experienced to be believed. A joy to listen to and a joy to play if you've got a metal band handy. If you like any of the Pantera sound this album is a must have (the beast from the pit of all Pantera ...
