Advantages: A7X's greatest effort so far Disadvantages: The last pure metalcore album they did
...their first studio album.
Waking the Fallen was the band's second studio album and released through Hopeless Records on August 26th 2003. The album is by no means Hopeless though but an epic follow on from an outstanding debut. The album focused even more on how metal should sound with blistering guitar sounds and amazing vocals. The lyrics are incredible and ,as with most A7X songs, very meaningful. This album would be the groundbreaking start ... ...Tracklist:
1. Waking the Fallen- 1:42
The introductory to Waking The Fallen fades in utilizing a very ghostly style. The head nodding guitar and drums kicks in before Shadows kicks off and although he can hardly be heard over the powerful instruments his voice represents that haunting theme as mentioned earlier. A good opening to an excellent album and will be the stepping stone for the next song.

Avenged Sevenfold - Waking The Fallen
1. Waking The Fallen
The intro is a build up with what sounds like monk chanting, into guitars, drums and some growls and finally into some singing. But this track is a mere intro to the album and is only a minute and half long.
5/10
2. Unholy Confession
A nice little guitar riff starts this track. The drums sound a little tinny, and the vocals sound like a dozen singers I've heard before. Ok chorus, the ... ...that catches me. Some beautiful singing, and the guitars ain't too bad either. Shame the drumming isn't half as good as the rest. From the chorus we're into a guitar bridge before going back into the verse with more snarling vocals. And though this track is alright, I have to comment on how disappointed I am in the drumming. This isn't something I pay a lot of attention to, but it's starting to annoy me almost as much as that stupid girl in the White ...

Advantages: original, some classics, great guitars, vocalst has a great range Disadvantages: one weak song. to much screaming at times

Waking the fallen
Only a minuet and a half but this demonstrates the true talent of the musicians of avenged sevenfold. A original intresting track.
Unholy confessions
This is a great song and avenged sevenfolds most famous to date. It has exciting rifs and has a superb mix of screaming and singing. You will listen to this ... ...again Matt shadows combines screaming and singing to a great effect. The lyrics are about the story in the bible, cain murders abdel. Advantages: Very infectious and talented metal(core) Disadvantages: Some songs a bit too long
This is a very good album. Aesthetically, the cover etc are very intresting artwork, the deadbat, is an impressive infusion of two very metally images. The lyrics are wrote nicely, and there is an impressive gothic style image almost, of a woman reaching up from the dead, with a hand of bones but rest a normal person...its hard to explain haha!
The album kicks off with "waking the fallen" a track to wet your appetite for whats about to come, with ... ...brief, distorted and erie song!
Next is everyone's fave-the infectious "unholy confessions" with a very memorable and bouncy guitar line, the vocals a mix of awesome growls and M shadow's finest singing voice! The drumming may seem background to the brilliant guitar riff, but if you take a listen, its one of the best drumming riffs ever, with the young reverand behind the drums, he will grow up when he is 30 or to be one of the best drummers ever.

If you read Kerrang you will see that in past issues they have been looked at alot, as well as Metal Hammer the magazine talking about them. They have presented posters, of A7X, each member is unique in their own way, whether it be visually or musically.
Must say that Zacky Vengeance (left handed guitarist) has his own style and makes lots of people look up to him as an idol. You have to give them a listen ...

Advantages: Great length, great mix of music, almost no disadvantages Disadvantages: no disadvantages
This has got to be one of the best albums I have heard in a very long time. The best song has got to be unholy confessions but over all. This is a great choice for many metal fans. The songs are pretty long, but for the most part that is not much of a problem. Sometimes the album gets repetitive, but that can be a good case in A7X's case. I think that this is A7X's best album, but city of evil is a close second. I think that this album is a perfect ...

Advantages: A real hard core album with some good melodies Disadvantages: some of the song are similar
this presentation from Avenged Sevenfold is absolutly fantastic, with the gravelly voice of D.Shadows juxtaposed with the outrageous screaming and melodic, killer guitar rifts. The opening of the album with 'Waking the fallen' gently eases you into a fantastic album full of energy which urges you to jump around your room and sing along at the top of your voice. A few of the songs sound similar, but the seamless change betwen songs means this may ...
